I can't find anything which shows me how large this model is compared to other miniatures.

I am hoping he is more monster sized when compared to normal 28mm models.

If that is metal and not a Bones piece, I'd say expect it to be a bit over 32mm.

Yep – 5.99 is about what the regular-sized figs usually go for.

It's on a 40mm square base.
There is a size comparison pic in the linked thread with Sir ForScale.
