"At Eurosatory 2016, Leonardo Defence Systems presents the Centauro VBM Explorer, a new reconnaissance vehicle based on the Centauro 8x8 armoured vehicle from CIO (Consortium Iveco – Oto Melara. The vehicle is equipped with one unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) HORUS and one TRP2 unmanned ground vehicle (UGV).

The Centauro VBM Explorer is one of the Special Version of the famous VBM Freccia 8x8 armoured infantry fighting vehicle currently deployed in Afghanistan. The vehicle is based on the chassis of the Centauro 8x8 armoured vehicle which is in service with the Italian army in many variants.

The Centauro VBM Explorer combines the proven and highly reliable drive train of the Centauro family with an especially designed hull to ensure maximum crew survivability…"
