Outside of Great Britain, 175 men from 11 countries were awarded the Victoria Cross for acts of bravery during WWI. Their stories can be found here: link I had expected to see recipients from countries such as Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. But I was not aware that Victoria Crosses had also been awarded to men from countries including Belgium, Denmark and Ukraine. Or that the Unknown Soldier buried in Arlington Cemetery was awarded a Victoria Cross as a reciprocal measure following Britain's Unknown Soldier being awarded the US Medal of Honour. Ezza |

Be aware that Indian Army (including Nepal/Ghurkha) VC list is not complete for some reason. The total should be 18, but there seem to be 10 recipients missing – some are British officers, but at least 4 are not. |
