I am in the process of re-doing our 25/28mm bridges and I am wondering what are the standard base frontages for 18th to 20th century infantry and cavalry bases.

Standard? We're wargamers…..

Depends on the rules you use, but I've more or less settled on 40mm frontage (2 figures wide) for both infantry and cavalry.
A lot of people use 50mm for cavalry.

It sounds like that 21/2" or 62mm widths would work for most rules in this scale. Would that width be too large on the game table?

For our two game systems it is either 3/4" or 1" per figure.

As per DW; 40mm frontage (2 figures wide) for both infantry and cavalry.
