Named, Winds of Winter. After the 6th book I am not holding my breath on.

I had thought that Jaime would slay Cersei when she goes all Mad King on him and threatens to "Burn them all!" After all, that's how he earned his Kingslayer epithet.
From the previews, he's dining with Walder Frey. Where that good man is being his usual odious self and congratuling all over how little honor they possess. Could it be that he snaps and becomes a Host Slayer? He did admire Catelyn Stark after all. Jaime, don't eat his salt and you should be ok.
So he can't slay Walder and get back to King's Landing in one episode. Even on this show. Killing Cersei will have to wait 42 weeks.

Marriage is in Sansa's future. Is it to Littlefinger or his real son Sweetrobin?

Ser Davos has Mel killed. She doesn't put up much of a fight.

Dany gets jiggy with Yara. Theon consults a Red Priest about growing things back.

Jon does something brave but dumb.

Bran dumbly lets the Night's King through the Wall and it collapses.

I have no idea what Margaery's game is.

Sounds about right…

Brienne has a reunion with Lady Stoneheart.

The White Walkers (aka The Snow Snails) take another baby-step toward relevance.

What happens when the Dothraki, Unsullied, Second Sons, Queen, advisors, and dragons all leave Mereen for their Westerosi vacation? Does it just run on its own like they were still there? What about the other cities on Slavers Bay now that they just took out two of the three leaders?

Snow Snails…I like that.

Syr Hobbs Wargames20 Jun 2016 1:59 p.m. PST

I like to doubt Sansa will marry Littlefinger unless he dies in a future episode. She has learned and a lot about how to play the game and is not that naive any more.

A better questions, what will be be the final scene cliff hanger? The white walkers at the wall due to Bran or the revealing of Lady Stoneheart to Brienna?

wminsing20 Jun 2016 2:03 p.m. PST

All reasonable guesses. :D

A better thought is to place bets on how many more last minute rescues there will be.

Here are my season finale predictions in no particular order.

Arya – might make it back to Winterfell this season for a tearful reunion but it'll be a very quick scene near the beginning or end.

Sansa – being kind of slow witted, she doesn't see that Littlefinger wants to marry her until he has to blurt it out. It is the price to pay for saving Winterfell. After all, he did have the hots for her mother so maybe this is the next best thing.

Jon – I'm sick of him. Wish he would have been trampled. But he is the teen heart throb so he will linger on. He will have to deal with the White Walkers coming so I don't expect him to do much. In fact, I think dealing with the White Walkers will be his role most of next season. The Wildings and Davos hang out with him.

Brandon – Being one of the dopey Stark spawn he will lead the White Walkers to Jon and spur that plot line along. The season will end with them nearing Winterfell. Remember, winter is coming…

Jaime – He turns the tables (pun intended) on Walder and, in an effort to get back to Cersei as quickly as possible and to keep peace in the area, he offers the Freys up to the Tullys in a revenge move at the dinner.

Loras – I don't see much of a future for him. How about he gets sentenced to death and is beaten by the Faith Militant right after the sentencing. This further infuriates the Martells and makes Marge's revenge that much sweeter as she must continue to play along a little more yet before showing her hand.

Marge – I'm not so sure what her game is. She must get rid of Cersei so aligning with the High Sparrow is the game for now. Once that is done she plans to use the Martell army, which is already in Kings Landing, to take control of the city. She possibly is aware of Cersei's plan.

Tommen – If he makes it through the burning and purge coming in Kings Landing Marge will dispose of him shortly after things settle down. Perhaps he goes on a religious fast and dies of hunger.

Cersei – The burning of the city makes more sense as it was mentioned again last night. Instead of a total meltdown though, she strategically places the fire around the city taking out the Faith Militant locations. Jaime then rides in with his 7,000 Lannisters fresh from killing off Walder and they take back Kings Landing.

The Hound – He will make his way back to Kings Landing and somehow get aligned with the Faith Militant. He will end up killing The Mountain but die in the process.

The Mountain – see The Hound. But there will be some more body parts torn off of hapless beings before The Hound gets him just because its cool.

Jorah – off turning into a Stone Man until the last season. Enjoy your hiatus.

Brienne – nothing left to accomplish this season.

Varys – The only thing I can see him doing yet this season is getting a spot for Dany's fleet to land. I'm thinking the Brotherhood would be good allies for them or possibly the Tullys.

Dany – Sun, swim, and surf with the new and improved Ironborn Sailing Club (credit to the TMP user who coined that one). She will be at sea when the season ends looking to land somewhere, probably Iron Islands first where she can cement the Sisterhood of the Leather Pants with Yara.

Tyrion – More boat time along with the other advisors. Hopefully he gets some good lines to last me through the next 9 months.

Davos – Hangs out with Jon. Calls out the Red Witch for burning the girl but nobody really cares other than him so nothing happens.

Theon – Continues to try and regenerate his manhood but Yara is the one calling the shots. First stop back to the Iron Islands to take care of that uncle situation and get more boats. Not sure they'll make land though.

Sam and Gilly – Seriously? Who cares…pointless plot line. Time to cut the budget and save their salaries for more cool CGI battle scenes.

Final end of series prediction – The world is a better place when run by women. So Dany, Sansa, Yara, Marge, Dorne assassins, Brienne, and other women will lead the seven kingdoms. Dany will be on the Iron Throne and each of the kingdoms will work in peace and harmony to "make the world a better place when they leave it". Its the happy feel good ending nobody sees coming…

dwight shrute20 Jun 2016 2:46 p.m. PST

In the ep 10 trailer we see the White raven hence the official start of winter ( not sure thats key as we knew that already ) . Tommen has yet to jump out the window , so guess thats in episode 10 . We also see the birth of Jon at the tower of joy in a Bran vision.

Major Mike20 Jun 2016 2:57 p.m. PST

Theon will get his mojo back after talking with Greyworm, he can just join the Unsullied and teach them how to fight Westerosi knights. In the book Littlefinger wants to marry Sansa, so, my guess is she will marry a character as yet to be mentioned, say Euron who needs wood to build ships. Brianne and Pod will show up at Winterfell to save Sansa at the last minute from something, like a snow snail, she does have that fancy sword. It will then allow for more fun and games with Jamie. The issues between the Queen and Cersei will just muddle around the locus of the High Sparrow since Cersei has to be around to be the locus of anything related to Dorne or the final fight for Kings Landing. Varys brings Dorne into the mix as an ally so the Sandsnakes can run about and kill,….oh lets finally get rid of Brienne which will put Jamie on a quest with his army to remove the Sandsnakes once and for all. Euron will be toasted by dragons which then brings Dani into contact with Jon, which will lead to the enormous climatic battle against the snow snails. Bran gets to Castle Black and sees that there are maybe a dozen members left of the Nightswatch. They are all surprised by the snow snails that pile up to the wall ala World War Z, and flood south. But, summer is coming and the snow snails will be done in by Jon and Dani. Sansa, recently widowed, will be reunited with Tyrion, who she joyfully reunites with as he is the only person that respects her.

Think I can get a job writing for HBO?

Who asked this joker20 Jun 2016 3:51 p.m. PST

What will happen? Some minor stuff. Then they will leave you with a cliff hanger for next season.

Syr Hobbs Wargames20 Jun 2016 4:15 p.m. PST

Two ideas I like Major Mike,

Theon will get his mojo back after talking with Greyworm

Sansa, recently widowed, will be reunited with Tyrion, who she joyfully reunites with as he is the only person that respects her.

Well there are reportedly only 17 episodes left (the next two seasons will be reduced to 8 episodes each) so there are some things they had better get cracking on. Some of my guesses;

Cersei is tried by the Faith, found guilty the sentence will be her cliffhanger

Loras will be found guilty and burned/beheaded/whatever they do to religious criminals in Westeros

With Cersei's verdict Tommen and Maergery will, to their very great shock, be deposed, the High Sparrow takes the throne.

Jaime will be caught up with some Frey business and will also run into Catelyn/Lady Stoneheart which will keep him from rescuing Cersei.

Petyr Baelish will present his bill to Sansa, either marry him or marry "SweetRobin". (LF had suggested to Cersei before that he should marry her.

Bran will reach the Wall but what happens to the Wall is not so much his doing as it is how things should be (Benjen knows that Bran passing beyond the Wall will negate the Magical Properties and allow the Night King to cross)

Sansa and Jon will realize that just killing the Boltons didn't solve their problems.

Dany will be readying to head to Westeros when Euron appears with his part of the Iron Fleet. When she turns down his proposal war will ensue.

It's supposed to be a longer episode so while this may seem like a lot I think they could fit it all in.

darthfozzywig20 Jun 2016 4:43 p.m. PST

What happens when the Dothraki, Unsullied, Second Sons, Queen, advisors, and dragons all leave Mereen for their Westerosi vacation?

Honestly, does anyone even care? Westeros is the Besteros.

Tgerritsen Supporting Member of TMP20 Jun 2016 5:58 p.m. PST

My desired outcome for the last episode of the season…I don't consider these predictions, necessarily.

Dany and company embark out to sea for Westeros and we don't hear from them the rest of the episode (the rest can wait until next season).

Varys' secret mission is revealed, but creates more questions than answers.

Little Finger makes his demand of either direct marriage or the marriage to SweetRobin (with fringe benefits for himself). Sansa tells him to go to hell and Brienne takes his head, having lurked in the shadows (and FINALLY getting a victory).

Sam shows up at Winterfell with some troops and that shiny Valyrian blade from his father. Him and Jon reignite their mutual man crush.

A girl finally shows up back in Westeros, preferably at Winterfell. Group hug ensues.

Bran shows up at the wall just moments ahead of the hoard. Bran comes through to warn the few remaining watch. The night king pulls out the fabled horn and the wall comes down. Did Bran survive? Did Dolorous Edd? Tune in next season to find out!

Jaime is invited to the Frey house. They say the wrong thing, but old Frey is cunning- he signals the new red wedding to take out Jaime, but Jaime is too cunning for him, and instead Old Frey and the Freyletts are slaughtered. Jaime puts Edmure Tully in charge of The Twins and says, "Finally I can return to Cersei."

Cersei and Loras are both found guilty, but Cersei unleashes the Mountain, who goes berserk and starts ripping heads. The Hounds shows up and they go at it.

The Hound is struck through, about to die, when he gets his brother and they both go down. Cersei says something like, "So be it" and nods to her evil consultant, who ignites the dragon fire and the city burns. Jaime arrives just in time to see the burning city and we get our final cliffhanger- who lives, who dies? Tune in next year!

Special GRR Martin Revenge Edition-
Just for fun, since GRR likes to mess with us all, here's how I'd see GRR ending it if he had his way-

Dany and her horde get on their ships and sail out to sea. A freak storm hits them and they all drown. No more Dany or Tyrion or Dothraki or Greyjoys (Euron goes down in the same storm).

The wall falls, crushing Bran, Edd and the remaining night's watch. Sansa and Jon come up with a brilliant plan to reforge the north only to have the frozen dead overrun Winterfell and kill them all.

Cersei blows up the city, just as Jaime returns, and everyone in Kings Landing Dies.

The Book ends as the Sand Snakes are drinking and celebrating. "Hah! We won the Game of Thrones!" they all cry as a horde of frozen dead come running down in an endless sea World War Z style to kill them all- an undead Jon Snow, Sansa, Cersei and Jaime leading the charge.

At this point, I am annoyed enough to go along with that.

Basically, D&D took a character I was cheering for as being heroic, and turned him into a blundering heroic idiot. He may as well have been Thundar the Barbarian.

Martin Rapier21 Jun 2016 2:12 a.m. PST

It would be nice to have a return to some semblance of a plot, but I imagine we'll still have all the characters wandering around aimlessly on their own having 'adventures'.

As long as there is violence and nudity, it doesn't really matter.

dwight shrute21 Jun 2016 3:33 a.m. PST

I hear the High Sparrow and his followers get a royal kicking , the fate of the high sparrow is left unanswered .

YogiBearMinis Supporting Member of TMP21 Jun 2016 6:10 a.m. PST

I wholeheartedly agree that the Hound's future is tied up in revenge on the (undead) Mountain, though maybe there will be some aspect of it that is poignant or something due to the Mountain's current undead status (the Hound takes pity and kills him, rather than a pure revenge killing).

I also agree that the White Walkers either breach the wall or appear outside Winterfell in the episode as a cliffhanger. No way they pass up that dramatic optic.

One question I have is the degree to which Varys's machinations and plots are in any way connected with those of Littlefinger. Is Littlefinger JUST out to build himself an empire, or is he also part of a grander scheme and merely building an empire as a side job?

Winston Smith21 Jun 2016 6:35 a.m. PST

The Hound's makeup has been a lot more gruesome this season. Anyone notice that? That could be building to a more compelling arc against his Big Brother.

Personal logo Doctor X Supporting Member of TMP21 Jun 2016 7:54 a.m. PST

I noticed that as well. Maybe it was him laying there rotting until Ian McShane found him that caused it.

darthfozzywig21 Jun 2016 9:07 a.m. PST

He's climbed higher and faster than anyone since he first put Jon Arryn on the scent of Robert's bastards, and won't be satisfied with anything less than a total victory.

doug redshirt21 Jun 2016 10:54 a.m. PST

Anyone remember that bastard of Roberts who got away from Mel and Stannis. What if the high Sparrow has him and plans on raising him up to be king?

jowady21 Jun 2016 11:58 a.m. PST

He's climbed higher and faster than anyone since he first put Jon Arryn on the scent of Robert's bastards, and won't be satisfied with anything less than a total victory.

I think that he's positioned himself nicely but it's going to come down to a fight between him and the High Septon next season for the Throne. Once Cersei is found guilty, with the help of Tommen and Maergery she's off the scene. Tommen will then be deposed by the High Septon since he isn't related to either the Baratheons or the Targaryans. Adios Tommen and Maergery, thanks for playing, here's a home edition of our game. The High Septon declares the throne open and who better to help it back to respectability then the Faith? Meanwhile Petyr will be building his alliance based on the North. He may even get Lannister help and there has always been talk of some sort of secret pact he has with the Tyrells. Meanwhile, in the final season I think we'll see whoever wins the throne in season 7 vs. Dany in season 8.

Syr Hobbs Wargames21 Jun 2016 5:29 p.m. PST

I think many will die by Cersei and wildfire and Darrnerys vision of a ruined thrones in kings landing was not covered in snow but ash instead.

Winston Smith22 Jun 2016 2:00 a.m. PST

Good point.
But the ash may have come from dragon fire too.
Or both.

Winston Smith22 Jun 2016 10:39 a.m. PST

One other thing. With all the Stark Stupidity (Jon, Arya, Bran…) going on the last few weeks, we seem to have forgotten the Tower of Joy. grin
Uncle Benjen Coldhands: "We seem to be safe here. Go ahead Bran. Have a vision. I'll take the first watch. I'm undead anyway, so I won't mind. Just avoid you know who."
Bran mutters to himself "Nobody tells ME who I can spy on…"

Syr Hobbs Wargames22 Jun 2016 10:47 a.m. PST

Interesting,

Lena Headey(Cersei Lannister), Emilia Clarke(Daenerys Targaryen) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) will all be paid north of $500,000 USD an episode for Season 7,

So I guess Cersei survives for at least one episode next year.

jowady22 Jun 2016 2:41 p.m. PST

Salary analysis is how I figured out who shot JR.

It's as good a way as any. After all comparing the books to the series is how we've been able to tell that a lot of what is set for Book 6 (if it ever comes out) is essentially just filler, and frankly the same for Books 4&5. That whole part with False Aegon and his crew and whoever the Dornish Prince who goes off to marry Dany and Victarion and Fake Arya and all that really won't matter in the end. The series is essentially the Saga if GRRM had a really good editor.

Winston Smith22 Jun 2016 3:31 p.m. PST

Tolkien knew there was a lot of stuff going on in the rest of Middle Earth. But he had the good sense to leave it for the appendices, and the massive volumes of Stuff That Fell Behind Dad's Radiator books his son "edited".

George's "problem", if you can call it that, is that he was doing the usual fantasy 7 part trilogy at his own leisure. Tangents? Unnecessary plot diversions? Who cared? Maybe 25,000 hard core book readers. The other book readers were the guys who scanned the fantasy bookshelfs at Barnes and Noble and said "Oh, another one?"
Then these two young lads came along and backed up a dump truck full of money to his money vault. "Sure I can finish the two remaining books in 6 years. Book 5 is at the printers."
Well guess what. Now your a HUGE celebrity. Pose for pictures at Comic Con with Lena Heady and Emilia Clarke on my lap, or sit down and write about some skin disease that Dacron Greyjoy picked up looking for Tiedye Lannister's Valyrian Steel sword he lost in Valyrian. I know what I would do. grin
