On a scale of 1 (low) to 10, how would you rate these rules? |

10. Which I"m sure comes as no surprise. |

5 -simple to play, can be fun, but perhaps not all the detail I like. |

I'd give them an 8, simple, fun set of rules of which I have had some really great times playing. |

Liked the original version very much. The later versions not as much. In addition to the big battles, there were amendments (on website) for lower levels. Give it a 9. So you could do big battles Franco Prussian multi corps battle, and then wing scale american revolution. Very different feel to both games. Great set. |

Where does "never played it" fit in? My group is rather set in its ways over the rules to play. (We still reject the designated hitter.) We play what we know and it helps the games flow. We aren't about to go swooning over some brand new 20 year old rules set. |

That fits in with "I don't play Flames of War." |

Probably an 8 – I prefer Fire & Fury and Black Powder but they are hard to beat for the really, really big battles |

9. I have never played it. With that said, it was the first historical rules I bought without tecommendation and I pushed it around a little with cardboard squares. It seemed a damn fine game. I have never had the attention span to actually paint an army for it, nor any willing opponents. |

9 – I use the basic mechanics for almost everything but I do tweak them. |

Like them. But still too slow playing and complex ( with attachments, skirmisher bases, etc) at that level for my taste. I like Blucher at that level . |

On these rules questions I often would like to see, "I have never played them, but would give them a try if a game were available". |
