It's been 25 years since my even older Stone Mountain Miniatures ACW collection has seen the light of day. Work, real life, other gaming periods, dissatisfaction with rules, all conspired to keep my gallant Union and Confederate forces in their storage boxes.
Until today.
Since retiring I've been able to get back into the hobby more and more. And today I decided to pull out the ACW and my old Total System Scenics foam terrain boards that I bought from Johnson Hood when he owned and operated 'Wargames' out of West Virginia (I think).
I don't have a particular scenario drawn up; just thought I'd start with a Confederate brigade and slightly reinforced Union brigade. I'm using the rules we used 30+ years ago, 'Rally Round the Flag,' and plan on puttering about solo for a few turns to see what happens.
Pulling out these old troops brought back a lot of fond memories. Here are a few photos of the initial set-up:

They should be well rested and ready for active campaigning.

I like the old stone mtn figs nice clean easy to paint.

Joe, they're kinda like Rip van Winkle ACW; been asleep a lonnnng time.
Clay, I agree, I still like the Stone Mountain figures. The paint job on the figures reflects my early skill level, just blocking in primary colors. I tried a wash on a couple of the regiments but it just made them dirty. But I still love 'em. grin

I too, have a number of the old Stone Mtn. figures. Easy to paint and they look great as well.

I'm working on some Stone Mountain and eagerly awaiting their resculpt/recasting project. Stone Mountain has always been my go-to 15mm line. I used to order them from War Games West in Albuquerque (back in the early 90s, and I just started up with them again.

Looks relaxing! Hope to see more of them.

I love the old Stonewall minis.

I primed hundreds of them in 1992-1993, and am still painting groups of them occassionally….
And yes, we still use RRTF (although we have simplified that utterly confusing rule on Charges somewhat)…

Looking good Ragbones.

Just re-based 1000 ACW from the early 90's.

1st gen Old Glory, Essex, Frontier, Freicorps.

And oddly, the first ACW that I bought, Stone Mountain, have aged the best.

Ragbones,

I recognize the fields in your photos as looking like ones I once made and sold under the name "Fields of Glory" back in the early 1990s! Glad you're getting use out of them once again!
