Thought this would be a good battle to wargame, indeed it was.
Heth's Division runs into Buford's Cavalry Division & slowly pushes them back to MacPherson's Ridge, but the Union 1st Division turns up just in the nick of time & kicks the Confederates back to Herr's Ridge.
Rules are a variant of British Grenadier my Club the Abbeywood Irregulars adapted, called "Raising Sumter"

Thanks for sharing, I really like the feedback by the players at the end of the game.

This is a scenario I have been collecting/building etc for sometime. I just have not had the time to get the lead painted and the terrain built etc.

I can't wait.

I took a try at this with Napoleoic troops. My "union" side came off rather well so didn't feel I did a very good job.
Good to see how others did.

Terrific AAR. How did you make the foam RR tracks? They're great looking.

This is one scenario is difficult for the Confederates too win – the Cavalry are too quick, even as dismounted skirmishers, & the Iron Brigade are nails.

Still, there are things the Rebels can do;
The unfinished railroad bed, which is effectively a trench, should give them cover from fire & north of the Chambersburg Pike is considerably less cluttered with terrain so makes for an easier march, & the Artillery parked on Herr's Ridge should give them plenty of covering fire….

I'll ask about the Railroad tracks….

If new comer Joe Davis had kept a hold of his brigade, and gotten his men to form a solid line on Either side of the "trench"(death trap is a better term. It was too deep to use the cut as a fire trench where they were), they very well may have caused the unions right flank to fold.

Interesting looking scenario. Are you going to continue to play out the battle?

It didn't help that Davis was only there because of his Uncle Jeff :P

Yes, doing Pender's Division attack in the afternoon either later this year or early next year (depending on what openings there are in the Club calendar)

The trackbed was simply Hornby 00 gauge foam underlay – elements were then covered with scatter to provide a path – through polystyrene hills cut with a hot wire to provide the effect we wanted.
