Today Battlefront adds two interesting tanks to the Imperial Japanese Army in 15 mm, some Ho-Ni and Ho-Ro.

The Japanese sure did have a lot of Ho's in their army during WWII…

What's contained in the 2 boxes is probably about as many as the Japanese made.

I think both types were found in the Phillipines in 1944, serving in the divisional artillery of 2nd Tank Division, and often being used for direct anti-tank fire.

Only about 26 of the Ho Ni and a dozen or so of the Ho Ro were built. Pretty paltry numbers for any army the size of Japan's…

You always can wargame "WW2 Imagination"… (smile)

Both were actually used in the Philippines…

Add them to your FOW army that contains every German Diana SPG ever made!

Thirteen (or it might have been ten?) Ho-Ni I SP 75mm guns formed the bulk of the 5th Company of the 14th Tank Regiment in Burma, along with a pair of Type 95 Ha-Go light tanks. They were detached during the regiment's disastrous march to Imphal in 1944 and then formed the core of the Japanese rearguard at Fort White, during the retreat back to Burma. None are reported lost or captured during this period. They then fought again during the defence of Burma in 1945, when they were all destroyed/captured.

According to Taki's Japanese Army page, the combined production total for the 75mm-armed Ho-Ni I and the 105mm-armed Ho-Ni II is 138 vehicles. link

This is at odds with other (mainly Wiki-derived) sources, which usually state 36x Ho-Ni I and 54x Ho-Ni II.

I like the models. Think I'll get both sets.

I'd like to know more about their use in the Philippines. My Grandfather served there so it's a campaign I'd like to get into.

There's some info here: link

Four of each type in the Phillipines, according to this.

Glad you like them my friend.
