I just finished up a unit of 10 mounted Norman heavy cavalry for my SAGA Norman army. These are Perry 28mm riders mounted on Old Glory horses.
I have another 30 to paint. My plan is to field an all mounted Norman army for the Texas SAGA championship at MillenniumCon (Austin Texas) in November.
The Army will have (6pt): mounted Warlord – 0pts
mounted warrior priest – 1pt
5 x 8 mounted warriors – 5pts
I will form them into 4 units of 10, each with a War Banner. This will be a quick moving shock army, will have to move fast and hit hard. I plan to run 2 mounted warrior units with each leader.

And only 30 to go! Woohoo! These look great Char. So tell me… why the Perry's on Old Glory horses? And what happened to the OG riders? (and the Perry horses too?) No Crossbow? |

Skip – main reason for the horse/rider combo is I have 50+ painted OG horses in stock (paint while on the road and keep them for future needs), between Napoleonics and Medieval I have 200-300 available spare horses!! So far I have 25 painted Norman mounted troops – need to have 40. Also did a priest conversion you will like – will post the army when completed. Having fun painting these up. I picked up those 2 free packs (from before) and bought a 3rd, so have 30 to paint (can't leave unpainted figures laying around!!). When I finish I will have 55 painted Norman mounted + mounted warlord and mounted warrior priest – ready for a 8 point SAGA game!!! No shooters in this army, all mounted – It is all about the mounted charge!!! |

Typical Norman army for a SAGA competition game… Really? I thought a typically competitive Norman army contained at least one unit of missile troops? Hmmm… probably good I don't use my Norman army in competitive games (too much foot…). |
