It is the second volume #2 in the series. GREAT book but if you buy this do NOT miss out. Buy Grant Takes Command as well, vol.3. It's a must. Captain Sam Grant is the 1st volume. |

Bruce Catton is by far the __BEST__ author of American history and in particular the Civil War. |

An excellent series. Vol. 1, Captain Sam Grant was by Lloyd Lewis, who died before he could write 2 and 3. His widow passed his notes to Catton as someone who had the talent to finish the job right. |
