Hi guys, well one of the reasons I paint a few figures is so that I can run the odd little campaign. This time it's a SYW campaign using the Age of Reason Bohemian Blitzkrieg campaign. I'll be doing a series of reports on the the campaign as it unfolds and I'm starting with this one:

The armies are all done and ready to go, here are a couple of picks to show the troops that will be used:

Good lord that is a lot of very good looking figures…

I'm working on getting a similar troop density, but using 6mm figs!

Surely they didn't call it Blitzkrieg back then!

Probably not, but they didn't call it the Seven Years War either.

Post pulled due to major Bleeped text. Will probably start again on Monday. I'll post a new link.

I did up a hypothetical campaign assuming the 1758 Russian winter campaign was not unopposed, using the AoR campaign system (my main gaming buddy has Russians and I have Prussians), and a map based on Clash of Monarchs.

I don't recall if in the RAW AoR campaigns, forces can move more than one space per turn. In this game, non-light forces had a normal movement allowance of 3, and light forces 4. It took 1 movement point to move between some zones, 2 between others, with crossing a river +1.

Perhaps it was because the forces started so far apart, and perhaps the Initiative ratings I gave the Russian generals were too poor – IIRC the best was a "3". However, if I had it to do over again, I would make one modification to the AoR Movement/Initiative rules: only on a natural '1' would it mean a force couldn't move at all; otherwise, I would at least say they could move one space.

The campaign folded because the Russians just couldn't move often enough – admittedly partly due to less than average dice rolling by the Russian player.
