We recently tried Liber Militum: Tercios at club. An interesting system, especially when it comes to unit activation.

An AAR with many pictures, plus some general thoughts on the system, can be found at Hook Island.

thanks for posting this AAR. I was curious about these rules as they seemed similar to Lion Rampant.

Well, they're not really similar, as LR is very much a skirmish game while Tercios is aiming at the large battles.

If you're interested in a LR-style game set in the TYW period, I heartily recommend The Pikeman's Lament. It's the LR engine, but with some period-specific modifications. Due to release in 2017 though… :P

The wait is killing me. That was a good AAR. Fixing the target numbers for shooting and saving should give you the bloodshed you was looking for. I was wondering why the shooting was so ineffective. Had me worried there for a minute. :)

When I saw a rule set name "Tercios" I was transported back to the 1980s and the inter club and national wargames championships, through 6 editions of tabletops "Tercio".

I haven't played or been involved in compaction wargame for over 25 years but I can still quote most of the quick reference sheet and a lot of the army lists.
