I know they were closed for vacation and to catch up on molding a bit. Are they reopened? Can't get to their website at the moment. |
Saber6 | 15 Jun 2016 5:24 p.m. PST |
Soon. Does this a couple of times a year |
dragon6 | 15 Jun 2016 6:25 p.m. PST |
I can't get to it either. This is different from a temporary closure |
Editor in Chief Bill | 15 Jun 2016 6:29 p.m. PST |
Website seems to be gone. Darn. |
Wretched Peasant Scum | 15 Jun 2016 6:36 p.m. PST |
He's active on Facebook. Posted on the 13th, he hopes to re-open within a week. I get the impression that he shut down to catch up on orders-business has apparently been too good. Nice problem to have. |
dragon6 | 15 Jun 2016 8:14 p.m. PST |
2 messages down the editor mentions another .tripod site is down. Equipment failure |

I get the impression that he shut down to catch up on orders-business has apparently been too good. Nice problem to have. No way to tell. Based on his previous behavior, he may well be a pathological liar. |

If Tripod has servers in northern or central California, that might have something to do with it. There seems to be some major internet issues in the area right now. |
3AcresAndATau | 15 Jun 2016 9:21 p.m. PST |
I vaguely recall the time Jon got banned, something or other about sock puppeting, there was a rather large spat. Guess what I'm trying to say is that it's hard to tell if that was a joke or not. For my part, I've found Jon to be right up there with the most honest traders, guys like David McBride and Leon. When my order was running late once because of a delay with casting, Jon even went out of his way to correspond personally on the matter. If the man wants to catch up with orders on his own time, I'm sure that's what he's doing and it's a-ok by me. The man's running a garage op as a labor of love, not a Fortune 500. |

Agree, good business dealings |
TiberiusAugustus | 16 Jun 2016 12:06 a.m. PST |
Never had a problem with Khurasan. Always get my order in a timely manner and amazing sculpts |
Grimmnar | 16 Jun 2016 12:08 a.m. PST |
He is catching up on orders. If the site is gone now, while he was catching up, it is a Tripod thing, not a Khurasan thing. When he shuts down to catch up he leaves his site up so peeps know why they cant get in. The rest of the comments stated here i will leave alone to not start another flame war. :-) Grimm |

Got my last order from Khurasan after only a very short time considering that I live in Germany. Good man. |
ZULUPAUL | 16 Jun 2016 2:33 a.m. PST |
I have had good service also. I wish he would just disable the cart function. I was trying to look up figures on his site , I have the stock number but wanted the name of the figures but couldn't, frustrating. |

It seems nobody really knows, eh? If you don't want to know, you can certainly not know. Though you didn't ask, he was found to be operating sock puppets, specifically WRT his business. Based on his previous behavior, he may well be a pathological liar. Prior behaviour acknowledged, is that not a personal attack? It obliquely identifies specific behaviour, but then makes a generalized derogatory remark about personality. |
martin goddard | 16 Jun 2016 4:49 a.m. PST |
I too would be suspicious if a trader would not give a physical address, name or phone number. Maybe just a personal requirement for me. No offence to those it does not matter to. Happy gaming. martin |
Gwydion | 16 Jun 2016 4:57 a.m. PST |
Legal requirement in uk – I know Khurasan is not in UK, but I agree with Martin. |
Editor in Chief Bill | 16 Jun 2016 5:20 a.m. PST |
It obliquely identifies specific behaviour, but then makes a generalized derogatory remark about personality. I've never heard of a situation before where someone creates a false identity (Khurasan "Jon") as the frontman for a company. The sock puppets, already mentioned. His stalking of TMP staff and his posts on Frothers. His prior obsession with editing Wikipedia to attack companies he didn't like. A lot of very strange behavior there. |
Oh Bugger | 16 Jun 2016 6:52 a.m. PST |
Khurasan always delivered for me and its a reliable quality product. As to strange behaviour on the internet lamentable to be sure but certainly not uncommon. People often suprise us. |
Wintertree | 16 Jun 2016 8:39 a.m. PST |
I'm a freelance website designer. Or I was, before TableMaster II took over my life again after all these years. (speaking of strange behavior, does gafiating and going dark for almost 2 decades count?) I have constantly had to tell clients "No, you do not want 'private registration' for your domain name; that's like having your snail address at a mail drop in Guam." Online, credibility is everything, and someone is losing a lot of it right at the start when they conceal their business address. People seriously do not get this. (shameless plug: back the Kickstarter!) |
leidang | 16 Jun 2016 8:41 a.m. PST |
I received an order from them on Monday this week. |
tberry7403 | 16 Jun 2016 8:52 a.m. PST |
Prior behaviour acknowledged, is that not a personal attack? It's good to be the King. |
HarleyHG | 16 Jun 2016 9:51 a.m. PST |
Looks like it is a problem with Tripod and outside Khurasan's control. |
Stepman3 | 16 Jun 2016 10:08 a.m. PST |
Khurasan has always provided great service and product…I don't care how you think he has done you [Bill] wrong. and its a bit immature to slander his character… |
Wintertree | 16 Jun 2016 11:19 a.m. PST |
It's not just Tripod -- everything that lives on Lycos in any fashion is down. They've been saying they're "upgrading your service" since last night. Something is majorly hosed on their end. They did get a lycos.com server up somewhere (I'm imagining an emergency phone call to HostGator here!) with nothing but a statement to that effect, but nothing at all for Tripod or Angelfire. Basically, Lycos is very borked. |
M1Fanboy | 16 Jun 2016 11:29 a.m. PST |
Never had a problem with them either..why don't we wait till the end of the week? |
Mako11 | 16 Jun 2016 11:45 a.m. PST |
Khurasan does make some great stuff, and delivers, eventually. Everything "The Editor" has said is accurate too, and back in the day it created a lot of kurfluffels. You can see the many pages of back and forth discussions in the message archives if you choose to peruse those. |
Editor in Chief Bill | 16 Jun 2016 11:57 a.m. PST |
I don't care how you think he has done you [Bill] wrong. and its a bit immature to slander his character… It's not slander when it's true. Besides, it wasn't me he was trying to trick with all his sock puppet accounts – it was the wargaming public, to make his company look successful and his competitors look weak. When he created the 'da Bish' identity to post on Frothers, he posted a lot of homophobic slurs about transwomen. His Wikipedia attacks were against wargaming companies he didn't like (TooFatLardies? I don't remember), not TMP. |
Joes Shop | 16 Jun 2016 12:53 p.m. PST |
"It's not slander when it's true." Exactly. What he did, he did to himself. The sad, pathetic part is that there was absolutely no reason for it. |
Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut | 16 Jun 2016 5:39 p.m. PST |
I am not going to pollute this mostly civil discussion of Khurasan with my personal opinions this time around. I can safely that say that when I did business wirh Khuradan, it was always handled quickly and reliably. |
Editor in Chief Bill | 16 Jun 2016 8:57 p.m. PST |
I can safely that say that when I did business wirh Khuradan, it was always handled quickly and reliably. And Mussolini made the trains run on time. |
Pictors Studio | 16 Jun 2016 10:27 p.m. PST |
He apparently didn't from what I read. Either way I wouldn't do business with Mussolini. |
Winston Smith | 17 Jun 2016 12:31 p.m. PST |
You made me Google that, Scott. You're right. He didn't make the trains run on time. |
Pictors Studio | 17 Jun 2016 6:46 p.m. PST |
You should just trust me next time, John. |
etotheipi | 18 Jun 2016 3:53 a.m. PST |
You guys just don't understand fascism at all. Under Mussolini, who determines what "on time" means ..? |
