Blackburn Skua – was also featured in one of my favorite 'Commando' magazines. PE-2, though not a dedicated dive bomber, would rank too. |

The Swordfish was an occasional dive bomber, and the Swordfish is my personal avatar of an airplane (out-of-date before it started but outlasted everything built to replace it), so I'm going with that. |

Another vote for Dauntless. My first ever plastic kit was the old Hawk model,a Christmas present at age 10. The plane could take a lot of punishment(the model did, too!). |

Stuka, the best of the WW2 dive bombers due to its actual vertical dive. Second the Dauntless. Skyraider, is very good it used all the lessons learned during the war. Honorable mention, the Ju88. My favorite – just because it is so improbable is the He177. A four engine dive bomber ….. just too silly of an idea. |

SBD Dauntless but I would like to see it with the Stuka's 37mm long AT cannon. |

Barracuda? Seriously??? It can be assumed that he means, "your favourite dive-bomber that could recover from a dive". Make it a third for the Vultee Vengeance. Unloved, unrecognized and unsung, but did a heck of a job. As bad as the Barracuda is, I am really waiting for someone to bring up the Buccaneer, hee hee hee,,,. |

Dauntless. But the Val gets a lot of my love. Beautiful wings, beautiful plane. |
zippyfusenet | 15 Jun 2016 5:37 p.m. PST |
Mitsubishi Zero. Did more damage to the US Navy than any other. Sure, the bomb often wouldn't release, but then there was no need to recover from the dive. |

I suppose Dauntless would be the winner, but I have a soft spot of the Vindicator, especially when I watch the film Dive Bomber. |
Kelly Armstrong | 16 Jun 2016 4:40 a.m. PST |
Dauntless, those clean lines and menacing up tilt to the wings imply a brooding efficiency and true grit. |
PVT641 | 16 Jun 2016 5:43 a.m. PST |
So little love for the D3A. I believe that the Val sank more allied shipping than any other Axis dive bomber. |

Barracuda? "Seriously??? He asked what my favorite is, not which was objectively the best. |
Shagnasty | 16 Jun 2016 10:07 a.m. PST |
Another vote for the Dauntless. Three carriers in 5 minutes at Midway. It doesn't get any better than that. |
John the Greater | 16 Jun 2016 10:29 a.m. PST |
How about the Petlyakov Pe-2 (Pawn)? The Soviets must have like it since they built so many. I would also vote for the Helldiver being on the list. |
