A campaign with seemingly not crazy large forces, some battles, the colorful Neapolitan troops against the Austrians…any book in English that details the campaign the battles?

Thanks!!!

There is one:

Frederick Schneid "Napoleon's Italian Campaigns 1805-1815"

I warn you that the 1815 campaign is short but the book is good over all as a study of the campaign. Indeed a good overview of the campaigns of '05, '09 and 13.

It served as the basis for this game The Gentlemen Wargamers did last year:

Good stuff from the Gentlemen Wargamers! Thank you for sharing that.

That books looks to be the ticket, but the price of admission, aye yi yi!

It's gone up in price a lot over the last few years. it wasn't any better on abebooks.

The smallest price I could find was $75.00 USD. While I am interested, I am not THAT interested! :)

But, I can still see what sources are out there and see if I want to delve into this theater.

Thanks for the help, 138th!

You might check your local library and see if they can get it from somewhere through an inter library loan.

Somewhere I have two titles for this conflict. I just check online, and I can't find either of them anywhere.

I haven't looked at them in years.

"The memoirs of General Pepe" one of the Neapolitan Commanders.

The other book is sort of like an Italian Osprey on Tolentino. It has color plates and both English and Italian text.

I'll eventually put them up for sale on the Marketplace, after I find them.

I might be interested in the Tolentino book depending on price!

138Squadron,

Ouch. The description says, "This is a printed copy of digital content available at Wikipedia," so it is probably just a copy of the op's link.

Darn…I thought you were on to something!

Nofi's book on Waterloo has a good section on Murat's 1815 campaign. It doesn't get into great detail, but provides a decent overview of events and the numerous battles that were fought. There were approximately 10-12 smaller battles prior to the final battle at Tolentino.

I read a nice magazine article of the key battle between the Austrians and Naples at Toleinto.
