Hi Guys,

First time poster. Although not new to gaming, I just started playing FOW and I am using it as a learning tool to teach my son (17YO) about WW2 history. My Dad was a medic in the 3rd ID and was wondering if they make a 3rd ID dice tin or any other cool related stuff? I saw the tokens and picked them up. Also, does anyone have good advice for building a Italy force? I was thinking infantry company with some recon/tank destroyers and some artillery. Maybe some stuarts and 76 sherms.

They had them at one point, but I think they phased out most of the dice tins.

There is a set on Ebay for $45 USD

Got a link? I just looked and did not see it.

You could make a custom dice tray (fororolling dice in) pretty easily and make the "floor" with an appropriate patch/icon. Use a piece of floor tile or MDF and line the edge with fences, tall enough to contain dice. Glue down a printed patch, then flock everything else. Cool and useful.

@HAywire

Thanks for the link but that's 2nd armor not 3rd ID.
@Extra Crispy
Good idea.

I am in my First Flames of Warrrr summer tourney.

Your say Warrr not War. (See Farhorn J. Lefhorn)

It is a mid war starts at 700 and adds 200 every week.

about eight of us

We here in El Paso Tx are trying to get some miniatures going.

I am playing to be different, an American Inf unit.

I started with

1 company command. This has two extra bazookas. Remember you have to attach the two Bazookas (BZ) to a platoon. I will in furture attach one to the Heavy weapons for self defense
2 american Platoon full (With BZ)
1 weapons platoon light- 2 hmg and 3 mortars. I should have attacted the two HMG to the platoons, as I planned to use the mortars as bomardment.
one 57mm anti tank platoon with extra BZ. The Bz are as good as inf mkes platoon larger harder to take out.

one 2 gun battery 105mm,

and I fought an SS recon pLAtoon with strumgewehr a heavy weapons platoon with 2 mg 42hmg, a 2 gun 75mm at pltoon and a 20mm aa platoon. His inf and one of mine met in woods and did me in with a few return deaths. Then he tried to assaulat the Heavy weapons and that was not a good ideal. he retired and I started to pick him apart and time was called. German Win 2-1 whcih was good for no one (a draw then).

Lessons

It is a game, no prep fires. He and smoke only can hit what was seen. Still the 105mm is a big gun.

Read the American SPECIAL rules
That one where you reroll inf misses on defense is important not knowing that cost me game.

for next game.

MORE 105'S
RECON PLATOON.
I had fun.

Oops sorry, I just saw the triangle and assumed it was the same group.

The dice and tokens do not have the number on it.

You could buy the set and repaint the tin (repaint the yellow and add the 3, write Spearhead below) and rewrite the background on the back.

Dice of War has 3rd Division Dice here. link

They do a great range of dice for WW2 and you can get custom dice done as well.

I have 4 sets and 4 more on the way.

Wow, he has expanded his range since I last checked, he even has tins now… I will be having to place another order.
