Yes, thanks for the link. Published in 1901 and declassified in 1972. Must have had some interesting data to remain secret for over 70 years.

I have a large amount of War College war game records from the 1920's (still marked "classified") which frankly admit to the use of mines in German waters (presumably coastal) of a type that violated the Geneva Conventions.

They also include findings and conclusions such as our future Heavy Cruiser designs should not include torpedo tubes as being useless in actual combat. Sounds fine, of course, except that the IJN thought quite the opposite and, famously, developed an outstanding weapon ("Long Lance") to mount on theirs, and with deadly effect.

There is a LOAD of information that can be in these naval war game rules that might very well have been kept classified for so long after WW II!
