I posted this on the 40k board and it was suggested it would be better here. A while back I inherited a very large quantity of Epic figures in various states (from still on the sprue through to very badly painted) and have slowly putting them together in armies and have reached the Eldar. There seams to be an awful lot of these
Titans. The question is how many do I make up for an Epic Army? x42 |

Depends on which version of Epic. If you are playing Epic Armageddon (which I think is the best version) you need maybe one. You might play as many as two or three in Titan Legions (if I remember correctly) but no Epic game is won without lots of smaller vehicles and especially infantry. |

So painting up 5 would cover all contingencies? There are about a dozen of these and a fair number of smaller (scout) types. Talk about over the top. x42 |

There is no such think as too many Titans! Though unless your playing all-Titan games a dozen is probably overkill! IIRC correctly their were no Eldar scout Titans released – so the smaller ones are probably Knights (needless to say OOP and ludcrously expensive on the secondary market IMO). I can't remember what constitutes a useful number of those, but a dozen is probably more appropriate than for Titans. |

ROUWetPatchBehindTheSofa I think that I have a good number of knights in a box marked Eldar Knights in addition to the ones I think are scouts from Legion 4's post on my other thread TMP link x42 |

If I recall correctly, you could buy phantom titans by the company (ie 3) at a reduced price. Warlock titans (the ones with a snout) were separate from this. I would keep at least three phantoms and a warlock. When both sides agree to field mainly titans you get quite spectacular battles. |

The Eldar Knights look like small version of the Titans. I don't have any. Here's what the Eldar Knights look like. link I generally don't like GW's Knight models. And as I said on the other thread, decide which version of Epic you want to play. I recommend Epic: Armageddon or NetEpic. And I don't like SM2/TL. |

Vaguely remember the Revanant scouts now, but I never saw the others (in my defense I was Horus Herasy humans only and didn't play much beyond the mid/late-90s). |

I started Epic in '90 … so I've seen how it "evolved" both in models and rules. |

Always loved the look of the Eldar titans. |

2,419 would be too many. Just saying. |

What you will find when you start tinkering around with army lists is all the different weapon combinations you can have on titans. Then what if you want two or three of the same titan variant with the same weapon selections. Before you know it you need around 12 or more in your collection for each faction… |

After a good nights sleep, what has been written here and elsewhere and reading various sets of rules, I think I will put 4 phantoms, 1 warlock and 3 revenants as batch on my painting schedule and put the rest of the Titans away to be done whenever. Does this sound reasonable? x42 |

That works … And as I said, you can always sell or trade off extras. |
