So how long does it take you to get a game onto the table? Team Yankee, considering we got our stuff at Christmas, made it in pretty good time. Only 6 months. Of course it helps to have a fellow player who is methodical in his painting and always finishes his projects. That's right Eli, I'm talking about you! It helps because that player can egg you on to focus and finish your part of the plan. Thus 6 months later we finally get in our first game of Team Yankee, with 192 points per side. And it was a blast! American Tactical Victory Lessons learned, a) you can never have to much AA b) 192 Team Yankee points is a lot, go to a bigger table, ours was 8x5 the next game will be on a 12x5 c) A-10's are a major pain link Soviets cross in Germany, looking good!
Americans! Americans!
I hate A-10's!

That last photo looks exactly like we expected for real. The winner is Who's Left? |

Very good looking table. 192 points is a big game! Interestingly, on the FoW/TY forums, many claim big points games heavily favor the US while many claim it favors the Soviets! I've tried it a few times but it's not for me. The game plays SO fast there is really no recovering from anything. All my games were decided on turn 3 or 4 and finished on turn 5 (one went to turn 6 but that was more just grinding it out, there was nothing "at stake"). But it intrigued me enough to have me looking at other rules. Hopefully it will draw other gamers into moderns with other periods and rules…. |

I have not played a game of TY yet as the OP stated I am still painting (well not on my Soviets, painting other projects)…erm waiting to get motivated to paint my Soviets. TY appears to have a strong following here in Dallas so I know I will get the chance to play at some point. To respond to EC's comments I think that a modern war between two equivalent forces would be fast, furious, and little time for shifting or changing tactics. The more flexible command structure should have the advantage but only if it is able to exploit their opponents less flexible responses. I am hoping that by having overwhelming numbers and lots of firepower that I can counter the US advantages. Soviets cannot afford to get bogged down they have to keep rolling over in order to win or so it would seem to me just reading the rules. |

Hey Kallman, For Soviet motivation read Peter's Red Army, excellent novel of WWIII from Soviet view. Extra Crispy, The game really played out much like the impression I got from Ralph Peter's red Army book. Desperate Americans trying to hold off the Soviet waves, Airpower coming in an ruining armored attacks, brutal but quick armored battles, etc. It's like you really need another company to through in, certainly not a game for those that have favorite units. When everyone else has their stuff ready we should be at around 400 points for side. Now that will be a battle! |

D6 Junkie – I like the look of the houses. What manufacturer are they? Nice looking game too. Really looking forward to getting into this period… |

Hey Iztvan, those building were made my my friend Kurt Braunsroth. In fact a lot of the terrain was made by Kurt and these were his castoffs! |
