Like the miniatures. Wonder how the rules are.

Hate the Boromites and Gar. No SF in my opinion, too much Games Workshop.

Dunno. Every time I see the Ghar, I can't help but think of classic Golden Age pulp SF, like something you would see on the cover of Amazing Stories. Very much an homage to classic SF in my opinion.

I thought the Ghar battle suits were pretty cool too. The rest of the stuff is solid if uninspired.

I like the Ghar, i find the rest a little bland.

According to Warlord, BtGoA isn't just Bolt action with lasers; I was a playtester for awhile and found it to be pretty much Bolt Action with lasers. To be fair, they've added a lot more high tech since I stopped playing. If they're still giving away the beta version, you might want to download it.

I liked what I saw of the rules.
Leaning on the more conventional side of game mechanics but there's a big audience for that kinda stuff.

The figures, some I've really liked, some not so much. On average, nice though.

Like the medic team. Need more of those required in games, especially company+ per side.

Can't say I like much of the models otherwise. And I mean the entire range, not just the new stuff.

Is anyone actually playing this?

It's reasonably popular in Finland, according to the local main miniature gaming site. Far behind Infinity, never mind GW games tho. In fact a few seem to be playing the rules with GW counts-as minis…

I have the rulebook myself but have failed to excite any of my apparently more or less erstwhile gaming buddies in taking it for a spin. Seems decent enough as rules go, tho Mr. Priestley's writing style hasn't massively improved from the days of yore. The background is a little more inspired than the rules, incorporating at least a couple of ideas from the scifi literature of the last decade or two.

Anyhow, the Tsan Ra (the first real xenos for the game) look reasonably promising. Will likely be getting some, even tho I'd prefer to have a bit more sculpts and options than all of 3 that I suppose will be just about it for them.
