Hi all,

I am just starting to put a late Carthaginian army together using Essex minis.

Looking on the LBMS site, I can only see 1 set of shield transfers for the Libian inf round shields for Essex minis.

There are designs for other troops in the "War and Empire" section for Numidians, Carthaginians, Gauls and Spanish.

Has anybody used these transfers on Essex figs?

Next question would be for Steve LBMS, are you going to be making / resizing your existing designs for Essex shields? Or do you know if any from other figure ranges are compatible with Essex?

TIA Andy👍

I've recently finished some old Essex Carthaginian spearmen with the round shields, I had some LBMS transfers for Xyston Greeks so tried them and they seemed okay.

The transfer needs to be centered as best you can, this leaves an uncovered edge which I painted to look like the rim of a hoplon.

There are some hand painted shields mixed in, some turned out better than others.

Anyway, worked well enough that I'd do it again without any worries.

Thanks for the replies so far.

Have used many VVV and LBMS decals over the years.

My question relates to transfers for Essex miniatures Veteran Carthaginian spearmen ( Scutum ), Spanish Scutari, Numidian cav and Gauls.

As these are all different, with bosses etc, I was wondering if anyone had used LBMS transfers listed for other manufacturers on their website for Essex minis?

E.g. Has anyone used the transfers listed for Xyston Gauls on some Essex Gauls successfully?

Cheers Andy

The Carthaginian spearmen are just using Republican Roman shields. So Republican Roman shield transfers would do – but would they not be over painted?

Yep and there are Veni Vidi Vici transfers for the Spanish infantry. I never did transfers for Numidian cavalry but LBMS did.
