I am delving into the game system Chaos Wars by Iron Wind Metals with a narrative campaign in mind. Long story short, orcs push elves off of the main continent into a feudal japan like country where they continue in a quest to conquer the main continent and all that is around it. I have begun my fantasy samurai/ feudal japan army for the game but their nemesis, the orcs, are a bit more problematic. Essentially, my brother loves the idea that the orcs be based after the Mongolians and their failed invasion of Japan twice over. With that, I am after orcs with the feel of Mongolian troops. I know there was Orcs that looked Mongolian made way back in the early 90's. Is there something like them today or what do you guys recommend? |

You may be thinking of the orcs from Leviathan by Grendel |

I think for cheapness and style, why not the Wargames Factory orcs?

The Wargames Factory orcs may be hard to find with them in a way merging with Warlord Games. The Renegades look closest but maybe expensive in the long term. Do they still make the old orcs from citadel or are they long gone? Thanks for your input. |

Very much long gone and collectors items so carry a canny price. Pop over to the frothers website and colonel marbles area it has lists of fantasy minis by species. There are samurai ranges of goblins and westphali arelooking at mongolian type orcs in the future |

I have a bunch of Japanese goblins, trolls, and ogres (oni, bakemono, etc.) from Dixon, AEG, Grenadier, the old Citadel oriental hobgoblins (by Aly Morrison, they came both in a boxed set and as individual figures), and the oriental orcs that Nick Lund did for Citadel too, all very nice figures. A Mongolian look is a little harder to find, the closest I have is the Chronicle hobgoblins that Nick Lund did, some with fur-trimmed helmets. Some of the Marauder orcs might work as well, since some have fur-trimmed helmets. PM me if you are looking for any of those, I can send you pics too. Here is a link to some of the Dixon, Citadel and Chronicle ones: link link link link |
