The first part of my review of figures for the Sikh Wars is now up on my blog it deals with the Khalsa foot and artillery. The second part will cover the regular cavalry and then its these lads foot and mounted.
If you like this sort of thing here's the link. withob.blogspot.co.uk |

Very good of you,OB. Now,has anyone done this for 25mm? |

Cheers boys I hope its useful to folks. Hafen I don't think so. |

Thank you for this. I have both the QRF and Black Hat Artillerymen. Both work very well together. Agree about the Black Hat camels. Way too small. I have the Irregular Persian camel gunners along with Essex Mughal Camel gunners. Red coats. The Black Hat cannons are excellent. |

Yeah DFM its a strange thing with Black Hat they produce some very nice stuff, I buy quite a bit of it, but now and then the consistency of scale goes badly awry. |

79th--Thanks for the link.Wow,those Studios are way too big to use with OG or Foundry! I'll be going with Old Glory, maybe supplemented with some Foundry. I like the Chris Hughes figures. OB,though I prefer 25mm(when I can afford them), I find your stuff inspiring,so keep it up--I need all the motivation I can get! |

Will do Hafen and I think those OG 25mm look very good. Once I have done the Sikhs I'll do the British figure comparison too. |

I really enjoy your figures and blog. I've long had a fascination for the Sikh Wars. I have a lot of 20mm unpainted from Newline Design which are very nice although it seems to be taking them a long time to complete the line. Hopefully, they will be going out for painting soon. I am inspired by your unit size – 16/foot and 8/mounted with 2 guns/battery? Maybe I saw it in your blog and overlooked it, but what rules are you using? If anyone else is doing the Sikh War in 20mm, I'd sure like to correspond with them. Keep up the great work! Kindest regards – Hal |

Glad to hear that Hal and thank you. I'm using Piquet Field of Battle so 4 stands a unit for infantry and cavalry and two for a battery. Like many rule sets now its the bases that count rather than what is on them. I like the Newline figures too but as you say they are taking an age to complete the range. I wonder if there is anything in the Irregular Miniatures 20mm Indian Mutiny range of use to you? |

I have been finishing up my HEIC Cavalry and command elements. I seem to have ended up with more Company Cavalry than Sikh. Going to have to fix that. I'm also worried about the Artillery as I may have to get more Khalsa guns and crew. Using Piquet Field of Battle how did you rate your Sikhs? We ended up with similar ratings for the British. |
Oh Bugger | 24 Oct 2016 9:18 a.m. PST |
From memory I rated most of the Sikh regulars like the British but with the artillery as a bit better and one or maybe two battalions of Khalsa infantry as Crack. I rated the Khalsa regular cavalry like British native regular cavalry. I rated European cavalry as having more dash. I need to get some Sikh horse artillery too. Black Hat I think. |
