What Air Battle Rules are out there that are suitable for a solo play?

The only one that comes maybe to mind is "Bag the Hun" sense it is card activation.

I don't know how you would convert a movement plot system like Blue Max, or Check your Six, to Solo.

Thanks for any info

I have never found a set of rules that I cannot play solo.

Major B,

Have you played Blue Max solo? I would be interested in any ideas of how you would convert a plotted move system to solo.

Thanks

The Fighting Wings series can be played solo. It uses an initiative based movement order. In the different games that use the system there are a mix of solo and multi-player scenarios. Solo scenarios tend to be intercepts of bombers in fixed formations or ground attack or ship strike scenarios. But if you can handle flying both sides you can play the other scenarios solo.
See the Clash of Arms website for availability.

Depends on the retype of game you want to play. In Check Your 6 the bombers always move 1st, so they would be a suitable AI force to attack provided that you don't give them fighter escort. They would just kept plodding along in formation (US daylight bombers) and rely on their own defence. Alternately you could use V1 doodlebugs again flying in a straight line and try to knock them down with allied fighters.

Hi Louie N,
I have played Blue Max solo by deciding the order of plotting before starting each move.
I roll a D6 for each plane involved, the highest roll plays first an so on. Ties are rerolled. In this way you never know who will move first and I must say it works decently.

Actually, you can play any game solo if you just do your best with each side.

Sharpe52 that is an interesting idea. In essence an initiative system.

Thanks

Hi Louie N,
happy you like it.
Actually it proved to be a good method.
I don't play solo very often but my friends don't like air battles so I had to find a solution:-)
Cheers
M
