"Frozen Water effect?" Topic

I'm building a winter battlefield table and it will have frozen ponds and or streams. Normally I use Envirotex Lite for non-frozen water. How would you do ice? Can you add a tiny amount of white/grey to "frost it"?

I used the same type of light covers to make some river sections for our Frostgrave games:

Randomly lay down very thin stripes of white glue in various bent lines that look like cracks. Generously paint the light gray on the river bed and IMMEDIATELY pour in your Envirotex in. The Envirotex will suck up some of the wet paint creating a frosted look and "cracks" will also form where the white glue was. Looks awesome. Practice on a trial piece first so you can be sure how to get the look you want.

I used the slightly (very slightly) ripples clear acrylic, and painted the underside a nice shade of gray.

You can also use just a smooth acrylic, and do the same as well.

If you want some cracks, just make them with the tip of an X-acto knife, a sharp nail, or ice pick.

If you don't want clear ice you can spray the Envirotex with any type of clear lacquer and you will get a haze effect (it eats into the Envirotex a bit).
