I was building a set of the 4Ground 15mm fences, which include a chain-link pattern printed on clear acetate. You cut these up and glue them to posts. Looking for some other options I came across a scrap of wall repair patch. This is perfect and it has TWO fences in one. This is a three layer product. Layer 1 is a wax paper, as the metal screen is self-adhesive. Layer 2 is a honey-comb patterned aluminum mesh. It is somewhat flexible and can be cut with scissors. Layer 3 is a fiber grid (the fiber looks like dental floss). Because of the adhesive it actually is stiff enough to work with. So a single 12x12" piece of patch will get you 288 linear inches of 1" tall fencing! All that for under $10. USD Here is a quick shot of the three fences styles using the bases and posts from the 4Ground kit. Left to right the fiber, then the metal mesh, then the acetate included with the kit. I have ordered an extra kit just to get more bases and posts.
And here is a picture of the Ace Hardware brand of this product:

We have used the fiber to make soccer/football goals. They work great. |

Any hardware store will have it. Just look for drywall patches in the painting section. Different brands have different patterns of metal mesh, but similar. Honestly they're probably all made by one factory and just everyone puts their brand name on… |
