The funeral of Colin Cole, formerly of 617 squadron (the Dambusters), took place yesterday. Colin was not on the dams raid, but was on the raid that sank the Tirpitz. I met him 2 years ago whilst on a memorial visit to Mailey le Camp in France, which Colin took part in and was my late father's 1st raid. Colin was a wonderful old chap, still full of life. It was a privilege to meet him and the other remaining veterans who were there. Hope the link below works, if not go to the BBC site and look up News – England – Regions – Yorkshire and Lincolnshire – Lincolnshire. link |
