Ummm , it is quite common to do additional filming after editing on a block buster. It's called pick ups and it does not mean a film is in trouble. It means that someone actually cares to put out a good film so they are getting the film coverage of the scenes they need. There was this one film by a director named Steve. He had to do a long shooting schedule and yet, when he was editing the film he noticed things or shots that would help the story out a lot. He used a swimming pool and shot some nice footage that, if it was not there, would have weakened the film. The film was called Jaws. Oh, and his friend had to do a lot of pick ups for his film called Star Wars. It's release date was pushed back to May. So I call bull on those internet gossips and will just wait to see the film myself. If it does not come out in December, I can live with that. |

40% of the movie is going to be reshot? That's "trouble in paradise" anyway you slice it. It sounds like there are "creative differences" here and a major shift in direction. Brit director Gareth Edwards ('Godzilla 2014,' 'Monsters') has made it clear thus far that 'SW: Rogue One' is not 'Force Awakens' and will be a dark gritty war movie from the grunts' pov. Now Disney is apparently pulling rank and making him change the style and tone of the movie so that it is as "fun" as 'Force Awakens.' Something like this is enough for some directors to walk away from a project. We'll see if Edwards toes the company line. |

That, or they're worried that stuff has leaked, and they're trying to cover up, and/or obfuscate the final plot, so it doesn't get out early and cost them tens or hundreds of millions in sales. |

The initial trailer looked okay promising a movie for existing SW fans perhaps – rather than Force Awakens which is aimed not at existing fans, but making new ones? If Diseny want to get their money back on the investment they're going to have to make more than just the same 'fun' movies using the IP IMO. And its not as if the original trilogy was relentless 'fun', just look at the Empire Strikes Back! |

Looks like Gareth Edwards may be out. My initial assessment seems to be correct: link The consensus seems to be that Gareth Edwards, who went on the record saying that Saving Private Ryan was a direct influence on Rogue One, created a war film that was too dark and gritty for Disney's family-friendly taste. War isn't hell in Disney's SW universe. |
