I do plan on painting up the Scots greys for WSS. I think I'll use front rank as most of my wss are front rank. But i thought it would be fun if one of the troopers where mrs Christian Davies as i find her story very cool. But front rank facra are not very feminine. Any body make female faces in tricorne. That wouldn't look to out of place on a front rank body? |

As she successfully disguised herself as a male soldier from 1697 until 1706, I doubt very much that she presented a particularly feminine aspect. If she had, someone might just have noticed. |

She was known as the pretty dragoon so obviously would not look like front rank faces |

It's all relative, I suppose. Eureka do a range of 28mm ladies in eighteenth century military costume – have you tried those: link No pictures, I'm afraid. Or possibly a female pirate of some sort. |

You could put lipstick on an existing figure…… (opens up a whole can of worms, though). |

I thought Eureka made a series with assorted German princesses as colonels of cavalry units but search the main site hard as I can comes up empty. Was it someone else? |

I suspect that although she probably managed to hide her gender very well, If I were going to add her to my regiment I would want it to be more obvious. I made Ellen from "The Quick and the Dead" for our cowboy skirmish game by using liquid green stuff to add a more feminine chest and some long hair. She is turning out nicely. Terry |

Could you be thinking of Hinterland, Dragon6 ? |

She was an amazing woman. She finished her life as a Chelsea Pensioner and is buried in the grounds |

It's a bit brutal sounding but file the whole face off your Front Rank Dragoon leaving the hat intact. Then carefully cut the face off an eg Eureka female figure, trim it to size and transplant it onto your now faceless Dragoon with a bit of putty to smooth the join. I've done this with white/black male faces and it is do-able with a little bit of care. The longish untidy male hairstyles of this period make it a bit easier too. BTW, there's a 1930s 'historical comedy' film about her life in the army- 'Me and Marlborough'. I think it's on Youtube. Quite fun in VERY old fashioned sort of way. |
