I am considering the shopping mall download from Stoelzel Structures:

Any comments on ease of construction and any other cardstock alternatives would be appreciated. I do know of the World Works Games Mayhem MegaMall and wonder what anyone thinks of it? I would not wish to invest in the new mdf models, nice though they look.

check out the mall madness board games. Seems a lot of people are using them instead.

Here's Mall madness but in 15mm. Not so good for 28mm.

@Alan. I have both the Stoelzel's Structures and the WWG shopping malls. Of the two, I prefer the one produced by Carl Stoelzel. The WWG mall is good but lacks sufficient shops. However it does have lots of useful props.
Both sets were supposed to have expansion sets made for them but it hasn't happened so far. I guess it won't happen for WWG, seeing as they have folded.
Whichever one you choose to build be prepared to spend a lot of time on it. You can do a lot more with the Stoelzel's set than the WWG set, which is way I recommend it. Also, if you are limited for space, don't build outward, build upwards. Design your mall with multiple floors and make it as tall as you want.

very many thanks guys. I think I will go for Stoelzel, with the anticipation of perhaps some further expansions.

I will probably go for resin props anyway, from the like of Ainsty Castings, rather than cardstock.

How essential is it to have a rabbet cutter to assemble the Stoelzel model?

Vampifan0107 Jun 2016 2:20 a.m. PST

It's a useful tool to have but not essential. I don't have a rabbet cutter and I've made loads of Stoelzel's fine buildings. A good sharp craft knife is more important and does the job just as well.

Thanks again for the helpful responses.

I'll have to download myself as well, not only could I use it as a shopping mall but one could make it into a star port as well.
