Anyone have experience running full thrust tournaments? Was wondering about the format, ship points etc. |

Be careful thee are a number of "chessy" Designs to win tournaments. Example NO engines but come on the board at max speed and cover the ship in sub munitions packs. |

There's a reason ADB developed SFB tourney designs for their Star Fleet Battles tournaments. AND varying scenario designs. I'd rather distribute pre-built scenarios and ships, but that's my pref. Wackmole9: Starting speed is usually so low, and blast packs range so low, I'd think they'd be easy to avoid. Still, if I were running, if it has no engines, the player has no initiative. Sets up first AND I set the direction up. Complaint? I'd make a roll to see if a navigation error the ship could have avoided with engines caused it to miss the battle altogether. But, a set of good scenarios with varying victory requirements REALLY negates fromage. 'Stay within X mu's of randomly moving "beast" to scan for Y turns' makes that design mostly useless. Doug |

FB standard designs would be the norm for me. Ships would need to be from the same faction |

We ran FT Tournaments at GenCon for several years. 1500 point fleets using Fleet Book ships. Pre-made fleets were available with control sheets ready to use for players to pick from but they had to pick a different fleet each round. They could design their own but they had to be pre-approved before they could be used. Rules, fleets and everything are here – link |

Oh, sure, use experience and knowledge to answer a question. We see how you are. ;->= Another thing comes to mind, Dean. 'Thus the fleet a player chooses in Round 1 many not be used by that player in any other round…' means I make a rule that every player that comes up with special fleets has to face same fleet later in the tournament. *mua-ha-ha-ha* Doug |
