I'm looking for information on games that have rules that determine if a round hits at the waterline or underwater. It seems in some types of engagements enough rounds would strike at or under the waterline to cause additional damage. Wolfhag |

IIRC the Command at Sea series by Clash of Arms takes these hits into account. I think it's part of the damage assessment in most others like GQ. |

Fire on the waters (free on-line) takes into account hull hits and if they cause flooding or not. See charts and tables page 14 link |

If you want a round-by-round determination of damage, including possible flooding, then you need to look for a very detailed and slow-to-play round-by-round rule set. If you are merely looking for the possibility of gradual flooding subsequent to gunnery damage, I think most rules cover this. For example, all versions of General Quarters do. Mark Hinds |

Basically what you are looking for is a critical hit, just one that happens to inflict it's damage in, mainly, flooding. So just consider any flooding, especially if it does more than average, a waterline, or below waterline hit. Only, as far as I know, the Japanese designed shells for this effect even though it was generally known. |
