Anyone hear the news story this morning about recovered lead slingshots. The chap said he referred to them as "bullets". The smaller 20g ones had a hole in it. He thinks this hole would cause a scary whistling noise as it approached the enemy.

Your thoughts??

It would certainly play havoc with aerodynamics.
Methinks they are not sling "bullets".

When the ancients played whiffle ball, they played for keeps.

Take one stick slightly tapered at the top fit one lead pellet which has a hole in it to the tapered end. Whip stick in fast fluid motion from behind to forward facing enemy. Lead pellet will move at high velocity in a straight line in direction of end of arc towards enemy. We did this with wet clay as kids, and yes the wet clay was painful on impact, imagine a 20g lead missile being used by an adult male. Also no real skill needed when used en mass.

Zargon what range would you think they got?

seem to be an untrained mans sling. less range.
