I don't think any instrument is unsuitable for rock music but I have never heard a glockenspiel successfully playing rock music. x42 |

Rock branched off from blues in the mid-20th, taking along a lot of other influences from other types of jazz that also weave in and out of blues from time to time. But really, the center mass of rock is blues. RDW #13&35 is rooted in Nawlins Funeral Jazz, rather than blues. Beyond the omission of the upbeat ending, the song also integrates some uniquely rock rhtythms and tonalities. Most modern music has multiple influences, making it difficult to classify in a single bin. That tendency is increasing. I suppose the bottom line is if you wanted to pick up a copy of Blonde on Blonde, you would look for it in the rock section. … or maybe folk. :) |
