Given this

And that fact it's called the Iron Islands, Will they show up with Dreadnaughts?

I already feel the intro to GoT is kinda more steam punky then fantasy! So?

Crazyivanov02 Jun 2016 4:30 a.m. PST

I think the idea is that they will use lumber from the mainland, paying the Ironprice the whole way.

Yes, plenty of trees in the North or the Riverlands! ;)

Green wood ships will leak like sieves.

That is what I was thinking!

They have dragons and a little thing like "green wood" bothers you?

Winston Smith02 Jun 2016 8:39 a.m. PST

No. What REALLY bothers me is how quickly Littlefinger gets from King's Landing to the Wall in his luxury Box on Wheels.
Is there an Interstate Highway system in Westeros?

darthfozzywig02 Jun 2016 10:03 a.m. PST

The King's Road! It's a six-lane highway. Afternoon traffic out of The Twins sucks.

Travel in Westeros is done at the speed of plot.

Enjoying the quips on this thread. You wags are on a roll with this one.

It's a fantasy story, contorted for a tv series at mercy of all that implies.

I think we're getting a pretty piece of adventure fun, when you consider it from that perspective.

We can pick it to death, but is there something better out there? With higher production values, fun (though terribly mortal) characters, not to mention gratuitous violence and seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeex. (To quote Grampa Simpson)

He sailed, obviously! Stop asking these questions and just feel sorry for the poor bastards that had to load and unload the Luxury Box on Wheels on and off of that ship!

Green wood ships will leak like sieves.

They only need to survive the trip to Meeren and back. ;)

They'll take about as long as the Dragons… ;-)

Dreadnoughts? If they're carrying dragons the should build aircraft carriers. It can't be any worse than the French fleet of LCMs in the Russell Crowe version of Robin Hood.

If they're Ironborn shouldn't they be building ironclads?
