An interesting kickstarter is being run by PrintableScenery.com, 'Apocalypse Ruins', which follows on from their kickstarter earlier this year 'Winterdale' and Indiegogo campaign 'Winterdale 2', both of which delivered on time. The present campaign is for 3D files so as gamers can print out their own scenery, and as the name suggests the current campaign is for mainly ruins, covering Historic (WW2), Gothic (Stone buildings/ruins), and Sci-Fi ruins. The campaign has been running for 7 days and has already reached NZ£35,777 with 372 backers, and has so far unlocked 6 stretch goals. There are also 'Bonus Items', one of which is a 17th/18th century Frigate. I have backed both of PrintableScenery.com's previous crowd funding ventures and have been really pleased with the model files and the prints got using them so feel that I can recommend that members at leaast have a look at the campaign to see how 3D printing is changing gaming scenery (and likely soon more than just scenery). The link to the campaign is: link The .stl files are specifically designed for the 28mm scale and checked to be printable at 15mm scale as well by PrintableScenery.com, many from the first two crowdfunding campaigns though I have printed out without any problems at all for 10mm scale. readily scalable. |

In the latest update (#5) Printable Scenery.com have posted the following images of the printed work so far on the Frigate:

That frigate is terrific, Matt! Time for my 28mm pirate crews to set sail again! |
CBRFigs | 04 Jun 2016 2:34 a.m. PST |
News from the comments and updates on this kickstarter. The Frigate will come as two options, with and without the carvings shown. Also the Frigate will come as printable in 4 sections on a 150 x 150 print bed and 8 sections on a 100 x 100 print bed. Here are the sketches for the Dias from the Stone Ruins pack, the Archway in the Dias is 100mm wide, the colums will be able to print seperately and in various degrees of ruination, this will allow the columns to be printed and used on other scenery.
Currently PrintableScenery.com are putting together a Trees, Road, and River package together. Still heading towards the Winterdale Ruins – at NZ$40,000, just NZ$1,710 to go. Following the 'Winterdale in Ruins, Walls and Towers' stretch goal the next will be another WWII French Houses (both ruined and unruined) at NZ$45,000. A lot of talk presently about bridges in the comments, some seem to want the Arnhem Bridge in all its glory (and length) – I think the thought might be sending Matt and his team to seek medical help! :D Still well over 22 days to go, and a lot more will be delivered in this kickstarter. |

With the pirate frigate, an excellent accompanying range would be a series of Spanish Caribbean buildings. The beauty of these is that they could also double for the huge Napoleonic market, particularly for the Peninsular War and re-fighting the campaigns of Richard Sharpe! |

Those would likely be popular with the folks who pledged on the recent "Blood and Plunder" KS I'd wager. And heads up everyone – the campaign just broke the $40,000 USD mark, unlocking the "Winterdale in Ruins" stretch goal. |
CBRFigs | 11 Jun 2016 1:11 p.m. PST |
Another stretch goal unlocked, the 3rd WWII building. :o) Next stretch goal is the Aztec Ruins at $50,000 USD NZD. Then the results of the polls (which close on Monday) will decide which Fantasy, Historic, and Sci-Fi stretch goals are next. Less than 16 days remaining. |

And the poll results are in! New Stretch Goals: Halfling Homes – $55,000.00 NZD Normandy Bunkers – $60,000.00 NZD Dystopian Hab-Blocks – $65,000.00 NZD |

Hopefully, from what has been said in the comments previously, the other options in the polls will either be held as extra stretch goals or put in as add-ons. (Nick from printable Scenery has indicated that the add-ons might appear at the end of this week. :) ) |

Missed the early bird so why bother. One day KS folks might see how many folks walk away from these things because of that. |
Canuckinator | 26 Jun 2016 5:40 p.m. PST |
I'm not sure I follow your train of thought Lee. May I politely ask you for clarification? @All – Four hours left and about $3,700 USDnzd away from the $100 USDK mark. |
Lfseeney | 30 Jun 2016 3:41 p.m. PST |
A KS should reward all that pledge. The best have a base pledge and then as it grows that does as well. As much as I dislike Cool Mini they have this down to an art almost. As does Reaper. Early birds are great if you get one but seem really bad if you just saw the KS and missed it. Making a customer feel a bit ripped off for not knowing about the project is not a good start. I know they are part of many trying to get folks to pledge quicker, but if you have a good product I do not think they are needed. Glad your doing well with the KS. Feel free to msg me. |
Canuckinator | 01 Jul 2016 2:52 p.m. PST |
Thanks for clarifying Lee, I can see your point. In this particular case, I was happy to pay the full shot (ie. non-early bird) as I've been pleased with PS service/product in the past and I know I'm getting a deal over retail. Matt and his team are great to work with and I'm happy to fork over some cash to see their venture continue to grow and put out exciting new products. |
