About 10 years ago I started collecting a Chinese force for the Opium Wars. By next week I should have finished it.

Anyhow a few Manchu

The infantry are the fabled Falcon 15s, the Mongols are Museum Miniatures and the armoured Bannermen are from Outpost Wargames Service.

Well, they're tremendous!

I hope that comforts you.
In your shame.

Your shame about that pun.

Oh Bugger01 Jun 2016 12:09 p.m. PST

I could not resist it and yes, thank you, I am comforted in my shame.

mashrewba01 Jun 2016 12:14 p.m. PST

Well I thought it was very funny.

Oh Bugger01 Jun 2016 12:41 p.m. PST

Yeah me too.

Bashytubits01 Jun 2016 1:03 p.m. PST

Where are the war banners saying "Just say no to opium"?

Oh Bugger01 Jun 2016 2:11 p.m. PST

The banners are a bit of a bugbear. None are available commercially so I'm making my own – one done so far. "Just say no" would be easier than dragons so I'm tempted.

Hafen von Schlockenberg01 Jun 2016 5:53 p.m. PST

I would have clicked anyway, seeing it was you,but the title shouted "Open Immediately!"
Very nice. I hope it won't discourage you to to hear that eyewitnesses emphasize the "great number of flags" carried by Chinese troops!

I bought a number of 25mm sets from Richard Houston(Lizard's Grin) before he retired. He inluded standard bearers and musicians in every set,and there was a command set that included extra standard bearers and musicians, with long and short trumpets, drums, and gongs. A colorful(and noisy)throng!
Never quite finished them. Now you've inspired me to get them out again.

Not sure if that's a good or bad thing…

Nah--it's a good thing!

vtsaogames01 Jun 2016 7:39 p.m. PST

Lots of triangular pennants, methinks. Some with characters, some just with designs.

Yeah Hafen I did fancy some musicians but they don't seem to be about in 15mm. Glad you are going to finish yours.

The flags are what is needed as you all say. Ones with names or slogans will be OK vtsao and I might do some by hand but the dragon banners are taking a bit of time due to my inexperience with microsoft paint.

GOP I got my Tai Ping banners from Patrick at TVAG and they are good but his Manchu banners have been pending for a long time and the Boxer ones wont really do.

Here is another pic of Outpost Wargames Services Bannermen I really love these figures and might get another unit even though I don't need it.
