If you had a free 1000.00 dollars, pounds , euros or an equal amount of money in your own currency, what would you spend it on? Would you purchase something for yourself or your family/? Some new miniatures or brand new era or game, or an extension of your current miniatures collection?

Mako1131 May 2016 2:25 p.m. PST

Hmmmmmm, probably right now, well painted 28mm Perry Italian Wars, and/or Agincourt figures.

New, and have been coveting them for some time now, with little time to paint, or skills to do them proper justice.

Both sides, so they don't sit on the shelf collecting dust, waiting for a battle.

Weasel31 May 2016 2:58 p.m. PST

A grand with no earmarks? Pay off something that we owe on.

A grand for gaming stuff? Probably pay someone to paint up a few armies for me.

Timmo uk31 May 2016 3:04 p.m. PST

Family have just had a nice present from me so this ones for myself.

A grand to be spent on anything but that I had to spend – car parts and fishing gear.

A grand for wargaming stuff. I'd buy some books, some tools that I've wanted for a while, like a spray booth, a drill stand and a lathe. What was left would go to Eureka.

PrivateSnafu31 May 2016 3:12 p.m. PST

It would be deposited into the checking account and my spending patterns would remain the same.

If you are saying I had to spend it I would probably hire out redoing all the lighting in my game room.

nazrat31 May 2016 3:15 p.m. PST

My wife and I have absolutely no debt, so I'd split the dough with her and I'd buy a bunch more Sentry 20mm buildings and a French WW II force with my half.

I second exactly what Weasel said.

$1,000 USD worth of Old Glory 25's, for only $600 USD with the discount, then spend the remaining $400 USD on terrain to match from 4Ground.

USAFpilot31 May 2016 4:37 p.m. PST

How many figures does a $1,000 USD buy?
Painted 1/72 (25/28mm)?
Painted 15mm?
Unpainted 1/72?
Unpainted 15mm
Assume I'm interested in Napoleonic.

Asked another way. Suppose I have a $1,000 USD and want to get started playing Napoleonics, where/how should I spend my money?

Winston Smith31 May 2016 4:43 p.m. PST

Sewer maintenance fee. grin

wrgmr131 May 2016 4:44 p.m. PST

I would by some Calpe French figures.
Or use it for a trip to Hawaii.

torokchar Supporting Member of TMP31 May 2016 4:51 p.m. PST

What YogiBearMinis said, but then take the $400 USD and buy more Old Glory miniatures with the 40% discount and spend only $240 USD, take the $160 USD you save and buy more Old Glory Miniatures………this process will last forever!!!!

Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut31 May 2016 5:00 p.m. PST

What Weasel said.

tigrifsgt31 May 2016 5:22 p.m. PST

All of the Fireforge, Conquest, Perry, and Gripping Beast plastic boxes. And the new Shieldwolf plastics once they are released.

Ragbones31 May 2016 5:43 p.m. PST

I'duse it to pay bills but if I was given $1,000 USD specifically to spend on my beloved hobby I'd put towards a painted 15mm Blue Moon Alamo with figures.

Books mostly. Instrument of War by Duffy, several by Charles Grant, and the rest on Fife and Drum's new Hessians and Crann Tara's Savoy and French.

Vacation to England where I would pick up some miniatures and save the shipping.

A new gaming table (if it is $1,000 USD for gaming only)

Lots of Reaper figures (when I was working, I placed a couple of $600 USD orders with them and was extremely satisfied).

A couple of Dwarven Forge Sci-Fi sets for my Metamorphosis Alpha game.

Some buildings for my zombie table.

The Beast Rampant31 May 2016 10:12 p.m. PST

If you had a free 1000.00 dollars, pounds , euros or an equal amount of money in your own currency, what would you spend it on?

It would be a more entertaining notion if you stipulated that the enchanted tapir that gave it to you forbid you to spend it on something responsible and un-fun.

Mute Bystander01 Jun 2016 3:22 a.m. PST

Hire someone to sell off my excess figures.

Gunfreak Supporting Member of TMP01 Jun 2016 3:45 a.m. PST

Hm don't know what i need most is a gaming room/anex but can't get that for 1 grand

Martin Rapier01 Jun 2016 5:27 a.m. PST

My usual rule of thumb for windfalls like that is fritter away 10% on something fun and either pay down debt or save the rest.

So one way or another it would end up paying the kids college fees, and by the time I'd taken my wife out for a nice meal I could maybe buy a few pots of paint.

If I really had a grand to spend all on myself, I'd probably continue with my project to replace all my 20mm stuff with 15s

Old Wolfman01 Jun 2016 6:55 a.m. PST

Not sure.

parrskool01 Jun 2016 6:57 a.m. PST

Sponsor a local youth charity

cmdr kevin01 Jun 2016 7:54 a.m. PST

28mm scenery, with $1,000 USD I could get a few pieces

KTravlos01 Jun 2016 10:23 a.m. PST

Money would go to repaying student debts (probably most to the money I owe my parents,or half uncle sam/half family)

Personal logo etotheipi Sponsoring Member of TMP01 Jun 2016 1:13 p.m. PST

I don't carry any debt other than my mortgage. I throw "found money" at it frequently enough that I could let it ride for $1 USDK.

A touch screen coffee table big enough for a 3'x3' battle. A commercial one isn't under a grand (unless anyone knows of one … PM me!), but you could get the DIY parts for under that amount.

The rest would probably be split out over a couple months to be a bonus augment to my monthly purchases of yet more of too much stuff.

Cerdic01 Jun 2016 1:35 p.m. PST

I'd buy yet another unusual, interesting, and decrepit old car. In fact, a grand would probably buy two…..

Personal logo DWilliams Supporting Member of TMP01 Jun 2016 4:56 p.m. PST

Well, I already spend well over this amount annually on miniatures and still have plenty left over for family, vacations, etc.

Mithmee01 Jun 2016 10:19 p.m. PST

I am going to need more than a $1,000. USD
