Watching this while painting today until the 1940 Blitzkrieg segment when they showed a T-55 shooting into a town…not stock footage either. They actually took the time to acquire and film it for the show. Come on man!!!!!!!!! DM |

What do you expect from the Hitler & Aliens network? |

Yes. Not sure what I was thinking. |

I turned it off quickly. I'm watching They Were Expendable on TCM on demand instead. So much better! |

I just recorded the series today. My standards are low but, come on, a T-55?!? I'll probably put it on anyway when I'm doing something else. |

At the ancient alien stuff is fun. Though I remember a lot of complaining whwn it was the Nazis and Hitler channel in the late 90s/ early 2000s. |

Watched two episodes of the Nazi's Secret Weapons which were all about Japan. The really are getting really bad lately and am thinking of ditching my service. |

Don't forget the fictionalized account of "The Vikings", how much history that did take place, can they distort to make a Viking soap-opera. Winston Smith is alive and well, and working at the History Channel. |

There are a few old threads on this horrid offering from History when it first came out. Its really not worth it, not even as background noise. Though I did get a good laugh from the footage of B-17's supporting the German invasion of Poland. |

To some degree it's an issue of the production companies that make the programmes. I've no idea about the Vikings – that's deep, deep, deep into my near-universal 'sphere of ignorance' but the channels just buy in the programmes. They've no basis for editorial judgement about the quality of the programmes: essentially they just buy the titles. I've been in a few things that have appeared on History/geography and god alone knows where else, and they have all, without exception, been utterly rubbish programmes once completed. The BBC series 'The Clans' was probably the worst, but the others are n't far behind. The programme makers pay lipservice (or not) to experts that they hire in, but since they have already effectively scripted the programme by that time there is really very little point; they just bring in scholars to add an air of authority. Sadly it's not just TV productions; if you've had the misfortune to go to the Bannockburn centre you'll already know what I mean. |
