Well – in the Revolutionary period a lot of things are possible – plumes – for parade dress only – and parades only, I would opt for the houppe

Eclipsing Binaries09 Jul 2016 12:11 p.m. PST

How are you getting on with these?

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP09 Jul 2016 12:42 p.m. PST

Slowly but firmly.. all with plumes now.

Eclipsing Binaries10 Jul 2016 1:40 a.m. PST

Are those work-in-progress command figures at the end?

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP10 Jul 2016 2:40 a.m. PST

No. All my new infantry sets must have 12 different trooper poses. So these are remaining troopers.

von Winterfeldt10 Jul 2016 4:32 a.m. PST

you could do one of those 12 as NCO – for fusilier wirh cross belts, and in case of shouldered arms they carry the musket at the extended right arm barrel facing inward, hand at the trigger guard at l'arme au bras, also the NCO would carry the musket identical to the soldier – but one would need crossbelts to see the distinction.
The series is progressing nicely

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP10 Jul 2016 6:48 a.m. PST

NCO comes with command set.
1 mounted and 2 unmounted officers.
2 NCO.
1 flagbearer.
1 musician.

As a novice, it is amazing to see the skeletons in the very first picture turn into these

Eclipsing Binaries11 Jul 2016 5:31 a.m. PST

Will you be sculpting the musician as a drummer boy? That's something you don't often see in miniature.

I'm hoping you can get these available soon. I managed to visit Marengo yesterday and I'm in the mood for some Napoleonic painting.

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP11 Jul 2016 5:39 a.m. PST

You are clairvoyant, Sire!
Little drummerboy is exactly what I planned for Campaign sets.

8 poses on left are ready for moulding and last 4 progressing quickly.

Eclipsing Binaries11 Jul 2016 7:04 a.m. PST

I'll send you the photos I got at the Marengo Museum. There were some replica uniforms of French and Austrian uniforms, and I got some good pictures of some interesting details.

They should be celebrating. Here it is already Bastille Day…….

von Winterfeldt14 Jul 2016 4:29 a.m. PST

we would need some Salis Samade in smock for that.

Nbonaparte Supporting Member of TMP14 Jul 2016 7:58 p.m. PST

Very nice indeed. Count me in for a purchase when you have them ready

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP19 Jul 2016 3:33 a.m. PST

I hope, that this little marching fellow is more similar to reference standard than his big counterpart.

Mold creating started.

von Winterfeldt19 Jul 2016 4:04 a.m. PST

looks good – please check arm length of right arm – where hand almost reaches knee cap

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP19 Jul 2016 4:30 a.m. PST

Checked. The arm is correct but the knee is probably 0.2mm too high. Not critically, so no need for resculpting, I think. Maybe I simply cut off a piece from gaiters top.

von Winterfeldt19 Jul 2016 5:40 a.m. PST

yes good idea – Frrench long gaiters were sitting quite low and not as high as in 7YW

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP25 Jul 2016 5:08 a.m. PST

Campaign troops, with trousers and houppes.

voila les blancs :-)

Eclipsing Binaries27 Jul 2016 8:57 a.m. PST

Lovely!!!

Chad4728 Jul 2016 4:03 a.m. PST

When will the campaign dress figures be available? Would be nice to mix one or two with Les bleus in the blue uniform + helmet

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP28 Jul 2016 4:16 a.m. PST

The first set of campaign ones will be available on the end of next week, probably.

Valmy9228 Jul 2016 4:55 a.m. PST

Are the command sets coming soon too?
Thanks,
Phil

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP28 Jul 2016 5:16 a.m. PST

Probably not in next month. They will be at the end of all French Rev.Infantry marching lines, but before the action figures.

Dr Jeckyll28 Jul 2016 1:07 p.m. PST

These look fantastic! Nice job! French revolutionary cavalry to protect the flanks and scout ahead of these boys would also be fun to see some day. Maybe some chasseurs in the same headgear, or hussars in bicornes…;)
Again, great work Sho!

Thanks!
Thanks to von Winterfeldt donation this is not look impossible now.
Beside some Austrians, AB don't cover Revolutionary period at all, so I am free to expand the lines. On other hand, I know little about this period uniforms and therefore depend on von Winterfeldt knowledge.

I now think about grenadiers set. Is this good idea to make one set of grenadiers with casquettes, bicornes and fur caps, 2-3 poses each?
How different was Consular Guard from regular grenadiers with fur caps?

Also, in this first set I count only 4 tall and 4 average men figures usable. Some must be redone thanks to weird leg position.

von Winterfeldt31 Jul 2016 12:33 p.m. PST

take your time – please do command set next, as for Garde de Consuls, I can send you contemporary prints, not that much difference to line grenadiers at all.

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP31 Jul 2016 4:27 p.m. PST

Thanks! But I think that this is not a good idea to cut off infantry lines on half way and switch to command. It is better and quicker to finish all infantry at once and then make universal command set.

Campaign troopers with casquettes are casted and will be available after I paint them. On this week I prepare lights or grenadiers.

Eclipsing Binaries01 Aug 2016 4:29 a.m. PST

Sho, I would wait for you to finish command before I buy any infantry, so if you need to make sales the command would help.

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP01 Aug 2016 5:01 a.m. PST

There are very few sales in summer. So I planned to prepare French Infantry in summer and announce on september. This fact, that I make new sets available immediately after they are ready, don't mean that I expect to sell these before all related sets are ready.
Switching to command right now means, that I don't finish the infantry project on September-October, as planned, but on next year.

von Winterfeldt01 Aug 2016 5:04 a.m. PST

I see your point but as costumer – I am in line with Eclipsing Binaries.

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP01 Aug 2016 5:26 a.m. PST

I understand, but I don't want to waist the valuable resources (especcially time) for bad quality quick maked command without available troopers and to be forced to rebuild all command later anyway.

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP06 Aug 2016 6:42 a.m. PST

Some Action figure poses..

Eclipsing Binaries09 Aug 2016 9:07 a.m. PST

Sho and VW, what are your thoughts on this? Spotted it at the weekend in Milan. French troops at Lodi, painted 1800…

Interesting and simple way to build up an photoshooting box for miniatures..
fstoppers.com/diy/get-perfect-product-shots-8-ikea-table-143787
I build this up, but until led-lamps are on his way to me, I shoot with ringflash.. already not bad. But led's probably will add more accented light and live up the miniatures.

inspiring work!!

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP14 Sep 2016 10:18 a.m. PST

Another figure casted today..

Several action and NCO dolls are also ready.. project may continue.

Eclipsing Binaries14 Sep 2016 12:58 p.m. PST

May continue? It should continue. I'm just waiting on command so I can buy some of these from you.

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP14 Sep 2016 1:27 p.m. PST

These new dolls I made for command. Also horse and drum model. So now I may continue with command.
But I need to create at least two more moulds of dolls to have all tools I need for proper armies builder in future.
