Sparrow was the master of this episode… he won… again!. How that intelligent girl (the Queen) was.. "converted"?… last time she beg to her brother to continue fighting… (??). And what about her brother???… In the advance shots… there is an alliance between the Black Fish and the Lannisters??… Kaleesi began to scary…! (smile). Not the best episode… I miss Hodor!… (smile). Tommen… well… he shows as the stupid he is… What do you think John? Amicalement Armand |

Margaery is playing her own game. I have no idea what it is. If the High Sparrow was trying to look humble, he failed. He smirked. Absolutely no Tully Lannister alliance. Btw, did you notice Jamie's new armor? The return of Uncle Bemjen is interesting for book readers. D&D went totally against Martin who said that Coldhands was not Benjen. And Martin has been snippily reading "new chapters" aloud at conventions that contradict the books. He should have written faster. And as a long time tv producer, he should know the facts of life by now. Just cash the check George, and shut up. Not connected with this episode at all, but Martin just confirmed that Brienne is a descendant of Ser Duncan the Tall. (From yet another book(s) that tv viewers haven't read.) Looks like he is back on the convention circuit and screw the deadline. |

Which Armor… that he show in the failed attempt and then left with Tommen or that who he wear in the advance shots with Black Fish?. Amicalement Armand |

Cold Hands was the only option. And I'm glad to see Walder Senior back. He's always been the baddie I most want to see fall hard. If the High Sparrow was trying to look humble, he failed. He smirked. I noticed that. I wonder how much sinful politicking he is REALLY OK with to further his noble goals? Jonathan Price kicks ass. And the kid who plays Tommen can rock that "Precious Moments" wide-eyed sincerity look! And Martin has been snippily reading "new chapters" aloud at conventions that contradict the books. He should have written faster. And as a long time tv producer, he should know the facts of life by now. Just cash the check George, and shut up. Too right! He is a petty prima donna. He got all uppity at the Internet Folk who questioned whether he would live to finish the series. At his exponential rate of dragass, it's a valid question. Even if he was a 67-year-old marathon champ. |

It's too bad that GoT wasn't written by Stephen King, he would have wound it up in two years tops. I agree, GRRM has nothing to complain about, we were supposed to have WoW (Book 6) at least two years ago. I'm convinced that if GRRM was anywhere near to finishing the books they would have held GoT back at least a season. GRRM has no one but himself to blame, he got side tracked into writing that enormous source book and he's a regular at most of the Cons (look, if I got to hobnob with Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner and Natalie Dormer I would too)and writing episodes in previous seasons for GoT. So to come off as though D&D have ruined his work sounds petty and bitter. Let's face it, while the books definitely have a big following it's the TV series that made it a cultural phenomenon. Look at TMP, ten years ago no one was posting about making a Lannister Army. And of course we are a very small part of the GoT merchandising empire. A few of my take aways from the episode last night (SPOILERS, but really, if you're reading a thread like this you should expect SPOILERS); If Euron thinks that he's going to bowl Dany over and that she'll just give herself to him he's an idiot. Daario has it right, she isn't a ruler, she's a conqueror, and she's a Dothraki. Meanwhile Euron is at best a second rate pirate. It was nice to see that Arya isn't just this horrible cold blooded killer. Margeary is playing her own game but what it is I have no idea. What I hate most about the High Sparrow is that he has made me sympathetic for Cersei. Tommen is a nitwit and no way he stays on the Iron Throne. Jaime now sits at the head of the Lannister Army. This will not be good news for the "Faith". It looks like the North will coalesce behind Sansa, she'll have two immediate enemies, the Boltons and the Freys. The thing is of course that since Ramsay has killed Old Man Frey's daughter I doubt that they can ally. I like the idea that Benjen is Coldhands. I don't care what GRRM says, it neatly ties up the "what happened to Benjen" question without introducing an extraneous character. |
Winston Smith | 30 May 2016 9:25 a.m. PST |
The list of "extraneous characters" wiped out by the show is very long and growing. Would that the Sand Snakes had been on that list. Dorne has now deservedly fallen off the face of… Westeros. |

I actually think that the series has opened up the possibility of a number of interesting alliances for the end. Dany could wind up teaming up with Sansa/Jon/The North especially if Jon turns out to be a relative. Plus Dany with her Dragons and the Starks with their family magic could be the force that defeats the White Walkers. The Starks could also wind up allied with the Greyjoys (Theon and his sister) What if Jaime takes the Lanister Army and crushes the Freys and the Boltons? Could there be an agreement, the Starks rule the North, the Lannisters the South? And what will happen to Littlefinger? If he gets too close to Cersei Sansa can wipe him out with a single Raven to Kings Landing, "oh by the way Cersei, Petyr poisoned your son, framed Tyrion, and hid me from you." And in so doing she can also wipe out Margaery and the Tyrells since they were involved in killing Joffrey. As for extraneous characters and plot line, A Watcher is grateful that the faceless man plotline seems to be ending. And after reading some of what GRRM has for his next book, Sansa getting involved with some new character "Harry the Heir" and a whole new line about the internal politics of the Vale and the "false Aegon" and the Golden Company stuff it certainly seems to me that while the books are still moving away from the finish the series is racing towards a dramatic explosive ending. (and I say this as someone who generally prefers books to TV, in fact until this season, when I binge watched the series, I had barely seen an episode). But I wonder what has become of poor Loras? Margaery gives him that big pep-talk but then in this episode she seems to completely abandon him. Jaime and the Tyrells have come for him but Tommen and the High Sparrow and Margaery don't seem the least concerned with helping him. So another question is just how evil will Margaery be? She at least had knowledge of Joffrey's death, now she's selling out to the Faith, Margaery goes where she thinks that power is. |

They disappeared after they killed their brother on the ship to Kings Landing so your guess is as good as anyone's. On another note I liked Jaime's idea of giving Bronn a sack of Gold and telling him that the High Septon is the target. And I still wonder who the "Faith" will send up against The re-animated Mountain? Or will Tommen sell out Cersei, since he's a member of the King's Guard will he hold him back or maybe even lend him to the Faith? Perhaps that's Margaery's game, she gets Tommen to give the Mountain to the Faith and hopes that Cersei is toast? |
doug redshirt | 30 May 2016 12:44 p.m. PST |
Hmm I wonder who the High Sparrow will find to fight the Mountain in that trail by combat? Could it be the Hound? Will Arya be saved from the Waif once she is back in Westeros by a long lost direwolf missing since season 1 or will it be the Hound? Why do I think in episode 10 poor Pod and Brienne will end up hanging from ropes, after being captured by the Brotherhood and meeting their silent leader. |
Major Mike | 30 May 2016 1:10 p.m. PST |
Well, the Brothers without Banners were brought up in discussions by the Frey's. |
Winston Smith | 30 May 2016 1:48 p.m. PST |
Very interesting. Tommen's Kingsguard have new sigils on their armor, the 7 pointed star. Notice that? Has the Mountain been officially been made a King's Guard? Or is he just Cersei's own sworn sword? On a trial by combat, is she represented by the KG or …. And MUST it be by KG? Tommen has purged Jaime and can do the same to Ser Gregor. Who will represent the Faith in that case? Cersei is so sure of Gregor that she must surely be wrong. That's what we love about her. That and her cheekbones. |

I'm beginning to wonder if I should even bother with getting Book 6, should I live long enough. Yeah. Harry the Heir. Aegon. Arianna. Victarion. |

Pod gets killed By Bronn on the way to Riverun .. Jaime besieges Riverun in a tiresome Riverun siege frey/tully/lannister story, Blackfish gets killed . The hound gos one to one with the leader of the brothers without banners and wins … enter stage Ian Mcshane . Tommen leaps from a tower and dies … Arya kills the waif and flees Braavos . Get ready for the Rickon under a ''storm'' of arrows fired by Ramsay … |

Winston – I have no intention of reading the rest of the books now, the show is so much better I no longer care about them. I don't think GrrM does either… |
jowady | 31 May 2016 4:40 p.m. PST |
The Mountain is a Kingsguard otherwise he couldn't defend Cersei. In the books at least she must bedefended by a Kingsguard. I also noted the new emblem, it seems that Tomen and Margaery have sold the Iron Throne to the Faith. I agree that the series now seems better than the books and also see little reason to buy Book 6 if it ever comes out. My guess is that we won't see it this year and anyway I don't need to read about a bunch of useless characters like Harry the Heir and Victaron and about Littlefinger's political machinations in the Vale since we know that they won't play a part in the endgame. I want to see Dragons vs. White Walkers! I want to see if Tyrion and Varys can moderate Danny. And most of all I want to see Jon kick the living snot out of Ramsay. And I would love to see Melisandre burn the High Sparrow. |
Winston Smith | 24 Jun 2016 5:58 a.m. PST |
Close. Jon PUNCHED the living snot out of Ramsey. It was another one of those enjoyable light hearted feel good moments. Like beheading Janos Slynt. |
