Don't think the corners are mitred. They look as if they are butted up with the outer layer flapped over.

Thanks for the comments, Gents, and for correcting my fail. Someone else had used the term 'mitred' for this kind of joint and I followed suit, as woodworking class is in my dim and distant past. When I get time, I'll correct the the post details, as I dislike having incorrect information on there.
