or how to get what you want in your gaming hobby. I have a little blog that I do just for fun, and tonight I posted some thoughts about how to enjoy my hobby and keep my wife happy at the same time. For those who don't know, please feel free to read here:

and you're welcome!
Best regards, my gaming bruthas!

Nice blog. For me it is just like those who have been married for a while should have learned what to do and not to do by a certain point in their marriage.

If that happens to be telling you like the new dish she made and would love to take the leftovers for lunch tomorrow even if that is not 100% accurate or whatever. You learn what will keep you wife happy and what to do or not do.

I suspect that is good advice.

Another option is to remain single. Less drama that way, though there are downsides too.

Nice job there, Rob! Now you know what I had to endure to enjoy those all day and night gaming sessions on Thursdays every week for so many years!

I sure do miss those days now! The last 14 months have been very tough especially when Thursday rolls around!

What is it you built? I agree, the wife and son come first, but my wife is an RPG gamer and wants good looking props for her games, so she is more tolerant of my part of the hobby.

I think it's something I should have learned a long time ago, but it's like I just couldn't quite get it right! Finally it got through my thick skull…

Paul, yes, I too miss the heyday of ODMS and Thursday all-day gaming sessions! My Tuesday night group is a lot of fun, but I have fond memories of 20 or more of us gaming at Campaign Headquarters, then World's Best Comics, then the Hangar. Man, if you knew this secret all those years ago why didn't you tell me?! haha!

45th, it is a raised garden. My wife moved here from Alaska (left family and friends) to marry me and grow old with me. She wanted a garden, first to grow Alaska wildflowers to remind her of home, then a vegetable garden because she loves that kind of stuff. She's very interested in history…we watched most of Bridge on the River Kwai last night, and we even have our own Saga armies that we game together…but the garden makes it just that more possible for me to spend money on my hobby without raising her eyebrow.

Years ago, GW came out with a little painting tray that would hold brushes, paints, tools and figures. Although a great idea, it was, of course, far too expensive, so I made my own.

Even since then, instead of disappearing into the attic to paint, I just get out a little folding TV table, place my painting tray on it and sit beside my wife as she watches her reality shows. She likes those style of shows, whereas I can paint knowing that I'm not missing anything interesting. (And now with a PVR, rewinding to see something particularly idiotic is quite simple).

and here is the rest of the quote:

Happy wife, happy life;
because if momma ain't happy,
ain't nobody happy;
and if that goes on long enough,
you'll be unhappy with half your stuff.

I enjoy your blog, Rob! Having met you, your lovely wife, and three lovely daughters, I think you are all very fortunate!

Rob, I would have shared the secret with you, but I guess I was too busy playing games and enjoying the time away from my Happy Wife for a few hours!

Maybe I should start my own blog!
