Sweet !

Interesting, I've seen both but not bought. Not sure of the price point considerations, but I think the BF Plastic ISU "pips" it for me on the detail front, me playing with them here:

I don't have a BF Ferdinand plastic or otherwise for comparison, but the plastic certainly opens the field up for mod's and detailing.

thanks for posting.

At £2.99 GBP you afford to ruin one just playing. The plastic quality is a lot better than other Art of Tactic kits

All a bit 'late war' and hefty for me but very useful look at them and thanks for posting.

Love the super-detailing there, Troop of Shewe (it's always worth going the extra mile thumbs up!)

Hope I'm not raining on your parade, but …

… that model is not an ISU-152. It is an SU-152.

Don't know if it makes a difference to you, but if the Zvezda box proclaimed it as an ISU-152 then you got the wrong thing in the box. The link posted in one of the comments above provides clear pics of ISU-152s. The differences described in the posting above (about the detailing of the front) ignores the fact that the SU-152 has a rather different total shape (notably lower/less boxy superstructure and entirely different rear-hull configuration).

Zvezda's home/local customer base (Eastern Europe) would hardly stand for it if they deliberately labelled one as the other. But I can imagine them accidentally putting the wrong thing in a box from time-to-time.

In any case, your model shown above is an SU-152.

No the error is mine.

Ah, well, a small error. What's a single I between friends?

In any case, you have the right Зверобой (zveroboy – animal hunter) if you want to hunt Ferdi's. For a July 1943 match-up it was the SU-152 that you wanted, and the SU-152 that you have.

Is the King Tiger out as yet?

Slight derail…. I'm interested to know that Zvezda does an ISU-152. I've be mulling over doing a 15mm "vizmod" approximation of the "130" labelled vehicle used at Chernobyl:

… or it's brother, "100":

CREDIT, WHERE DUE, for the Photos.

Both were used as heavy tractors in the cleanup, and remain on site. I believe there were other ISU-152s used besides just these two.

Always thought that, sans primary armament, they were great inspiration for late Twentieth Century post-apocalyptic "battle taxis". You could put just about any alternative weapon in that gun mount.

To me, the SU-152 has more "character", so could do the job I'm looking for, as a nice substitute (it would only be other AFV enthusiasts that would even recognize the difference, especially given the current state of the two "prototypes".).

I'm interested to know that Zvezda does an ISU-152

According to their catalogue, they should release a 15mm ISU-152 this year (in addition to the SU-152).

Is their SU-100 out yet, and has anyone got it?

Sarmor31 May 2016 12:53 p.m. PST

Yup, the SU-100 is already out.

Part time gamer07 Jun 2016 4:10 p.m. PST

"Ferdi', meet SU". shes waaay more than "strong like truck".

Ive said before and agree with *Troop of Shewe;
BF has the edge over Zvezda when it comes to getting down to 'detail', but..
No One can take anything from Zvezda in the way of making "Good looking models" and I have found there prices to be great.

In fact w/ the release of Team Yankee I have been scanning Zvezda to see "IF" I jump into it, would I be able to do so w/ their models?
So for they have all the basic mini's to do "TY" and some that BF do only in resin. Just not comfortable with resin.

Muerto09 Jun 2016 2:00 a.m. PST

Actually, maybe just as interesting: a post here from 2012 has Zvezda putting out a ZiS-42 with an AA gun, and the War Store has such a thing up for preorder. Has anyone heard anything about this, or is it vapourware?

Sarmor09 Jun 2016 9:24 a.m. PST

Vapourware most likely, as it wasn't mentioned in any later catalogue. You can also find info about a German SPAAG that wasn't released either.

Muerto09 Jun 2016 9:18 p.m. PST

Thanks Sartor. The ways of these releases are a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma smothered in secret sauce.
