So I'm painting up some 28mm figures for Sharp Practice 2. I'm about done with my Union force and am about to start work on my Rebels. What is a good Vallejo color match for "Cadet Grey"?

Vallejo 903, Intermediate Blue? Might be a tad light, but I used it on some Baccus 6mm CSA figures (although they say to err on the lighter side at that scale). I've also used it on a PBY Catalina.

I was thinking about using Vallejo Luftwaffe Uniform.

Or would that be too blue on a 28mm figure?

I'd go with Luftwaffe Uniform on that one.

Vallejo Black-Grey

Pure black-grey on the left – then with white added in greater quantities to the right.

All the way on the right would be my choice.

But the imagethat theOP posted, I believe, is NOT "Cadet Grey", but is rather "English Army Cloth", a darker, more blue-ish shade.

True Cadet Grey is the same shade as those currently worn by West Point and Annapolis cadets, with a slight bluish hue.

Here's cadet grey as it would have been in the ACW:

You are correct. I had a brain f--t and used the improper term. I was meaning to ask about a match for the English imported cloth in the uniform jacket I posted the photo of. I incorrectly described it as "Cadet Grey". My bad.

In any event, over the weekend I did a test paint of a 28mm figure using Vallejo "Luftwaffe Uniform". The result looks pretty close.

Thanks!

I think that is a good substitute. It's better to use a lighter shade on a smaller mini because the original wold look way too dark.
