Took me some time to get a round but I finally posted the second part of the clubs American Civil War Battle. Based on the first day of Gettysburg the battle turned out somewhat like history. For a full report see link for blog entry.

I agree – very nice AAR

PJ, your 2D6 rules are pretty good. We got a handle on them after 3 or 4 turns and it moved pretty well even with a large number of units on the table. Del did come up with a number of questions for you to clarify. Not bad overall.

Thanks Fred. Very little new in them- it's basically Don Featherstone's turn sequence and John Hill's fire and movement mechanics. With a couple of original thoughts. The best thing is that they are (right now) 4 pages of large text and 2 pages of charts. After some more playtesting and a few tweaks, they should be ready to go.
Dell and I worked out some of the unclear stuff.

PJ, the rules are so simple to use I may consider doing another ACW game with the usual suspects! However Del stated that when you playtest them there is a lot of…discussion, if you know what I mean.

PJ ONeill26 May 2016 11:41 a.m. PST

Yes, I do know what you mean, which is why you and Del and your group are doing so much better at playtesting than I might ever. Hats off to Del for all the work he is doing on this. Thanks for the kind words.

PJ, see you at Historicon.

Something I put together from some other rules, preliminary stages, not available.

This is the second night that we used the rules as mentioned an unpublished set of rules in the preliminary stages that flow very well and are fun. An earlier post has the other part of the AAR. I would not in any way shape or form consider it bad discussion sometimes it is simple mechanics sometimes how it seems so real to life.
Good times have been had by everyone to this point which is the big thing.
