As so often happens, Raytheon has plans to upgrade the venerable M-60. link |

I loved the M85. Just as accurate as the M2 and a lot simpler to maintain. That cupola was a piece of crap. Most of the problems with the M85 were due to the ammo loading in the cupola, not the weapon itself. I never had one jam if the ammo was loaded carefully. |

Yah, we would have been better off with the .50 in a pintle mount next to the hatch rather than crammed into that cupola. |

Had my M-85 work perfectly on a run down Tank Table VIII, once dismounted for cleaning I found that almost all the pins in the bolt had fractured and out of the confines of the gun the bolt head just fell apart. I agree that the cupola was a pain and would have much rather see the pop-up hatch that was on the M-48a5's in Korea. Have a very soft spot for the a3, loved the sight assembly and hard not to miss if you had a good gunner. |

Finally, a 120mm gun for the M60s! Not sure how it'll fit or how it'll affect reloading & calacity, but it's about time! |
