… for Trying to Attack US Warship. "At least five officers of the Pakistan Navy received death sentences in a secret military trial for allegedly trying to hijack a Pakistan Navy vessel to attack a U.S. Navy refueling ship, Daily Pakistan reports. The officers were convicted of planning and orchestrating the September 6, 2014, attack on the Karachi Naval Dockyard located at Pakistan's Arabian Sea coast. The attack was thwarted by Pakistani military personnel with purportedly two attackers killed and four arrested alive (some sources cite 10 killed, including four rogue naval officers). The attackers allegedly attempted to hijack the F-22P Zulfiquar-class frigate Zulfiqar, the lead ship of its class, with the intention of using the ship's missiles to attack a U.S. Navy refuel vessel in the Arabian Sea (other sources claim that the target was a U.S. aircraft carrier). According to the father of one convict, retired Major Saeed Ahmed, his son, Sub-Lieutenant Hammad Ahmed, along with four other officers—Irfanullah, Muhammad Hammad, Arsalan Nazeer, and Hashim Naseerhas—has been convicted of the attack on the dockyard on April 12 by a Navy Tribunal, Dawn newspaper reports…" Full article here link Amicalement Armand |

That was a near-averted disaster. If rogue Pak officers managed to sail a frigate towards unsuspecting USN vessels, there would have been a lot of carnage and unknown repercussions. Sounds like IS has successfully infiltrated the junior officers ranks in Pakistan. That's a bad sign for when these men go up the ranks in the future. I do think secret trials are a sham though, probably to hide the involvement of senior officers. |

That has always been a "concern" of the US that some rogue element in the Pakistani government, military or local terrorists/jihadis get a hold of one or more the Paks' nucs. There is a US OPLAN just for that contingency. And obviously the Paks don't want to be on the receiving end of US anger. They were pretty "upset" about the surgical drone strikes. Just imagine that x10 … or more … |

IS, or AQ, the Taliban, and others are in charge, way up the food chain, in the Pakistani military, leadership, and intelligence organizations. I worry about their nukes, and how secure those are. North Korea is a bit player, as far as danger goes, compared to the Pakistanis. |

There is a higher chance, IMO, of an islamist group[Daesh, AQ, the Taliban] or state[Iran] using a nuc. Than Un … He wants to live and stay in power. There appears to be a number of islamists that would use a nuc on the "Infidels". As they know they will die in the retaliation … and go to paradise. |

Yep, and I suspect many Pakistani sympathizers have access to them, and would willingly provide them to Islamic radicals too. I just hope there are enough checks and balances to keep that from happening, but somehow doubt that is the case, 24/7/365 x the next 100 years, or so. |

Also I saw a ret. Gen. on the News. Reminded us that the Pak ISI, and some military will give intel to certain Taliban factions. On US/Coalition, ANA/ANP operations. And at least two cities in Pakistan, one being Quatta where Mullah Omar hung out. Are being used by the Taliban as bases to recover, plan, etc., their attacks into A'stan. Also many of the Taliban have their wives and children there. And of course we can't do anything about it, just like Raqqa and Mosul. Nothing really new here … just a reminder of the situation there. |
