Hi,

My daughter is going to be teaching in a school south of South Bend so I was wondering if there were any historical games stores in the area?

Thanks,

Joe

Griffon Books in downtown South Bend is more (much more) fantasy & rpgs than historical, but it does have some historical board games and miniatures (or did the last time I was there-about two years ago). The web page is here:

griffon-bookstore.com

The owners might know of historical gaming groups in the area.

I go there all the time, and if they don't have it ask, they'll try to order it for you. Also if you are in to 1/72 scale stuff they have lots of that in all periods downstairs.

You just named one of the best places in the world. My roommate used to live in the area and his mom lives in LaPorte and whenever I get the chance to go down there we always stop. God how I wish we had a place like that in Muskegon.

The Griffon was a stop we always made when my brothers and I attended the Seven Years War Conference in South Bend. The basement is full of used books of every description. I have based at least one war game scenario on information gleaned from a local journal found in the collection. Not to mention that the people running the store couldn't be friendlier or more helpful.
Alas time takes its' toll on us and we no longer attend the show. I highly recommend a visit to the store, well worth the time.
